If you’re a high‑contrast Winter, a cool blue‑red is essential — it amplifies your clarity. While a yellow‑based red fights your temperature and dulls your features. However, finding a blue-based red is, well, like looking for a needle in a haystack.😮
If you fall into one of the warm (Spring, Autumn) seasons, your reds are: brick, tomato, coral-red, and maroon.
If, on the other hand, you fall into one of the cool (Winter/Summer)seasons, your reds include blue-red, cranberry, cherry, and burgundy.
The best months to find a "blue-red" are December and July, as red takes center stage in the US on both of those days. And you will find a selection of warm reds and cool reds during both of these months. Case in point: the sweater I am wearing by Nic & Zoe, purchased at Nordstrom in Petite sizing. This sweater, while it may be difficult to see the clear blue undertones in this photo, is a true "blue-red".
Style tip: elevate a simple tee and jeans with a pop of color. And connect the look with matching accessories. Alternatively, you could dress the sweater up by swapping in a pair of black trousers and swapping the sandals for a smart flat loafer.
Interesting details like stripes or prints, and well-placed jewelry create visual weight and position the viewer's eye, right where you want it!
