At this time, we begin our effort to clean up and repair the cemeteries for 2026. The two that we plan to complete are Side and Abbott Cemeteries. The rock wall on Sides needs repair along with cleanup of bushes inside and outside around it. Abbott needs a fence around it and cleanup. We've been approached by ten individuals who have cemeteries in need of repair/work this year. We do not have funding available at this time.

In order for Project Reprieve to continue our purpose and reach our goals, we need volunteers for labor and finances. Our funds are limited and we need for anyone interested go to the buttons on our projectreprieve.com website and Donate or Volunteer.

The plan is to begin on the above mentioned sites on 1 March 2026.

Welcome 2026, is here, like it or not!
This year we see if we grow to include the graveyards that need help or not. We have been contacted by ten different people interested in saving an abandoned cemetery. Our funds are depleted and we hope to finish up Sides and Abbott Cemeteries with what funding we have available.
Every dollar donated goes directly into these restoration efforts, and we rely solely on volunteers who are passionate about preserving our local history. With funding of 2026, we’ll select the cemeteries in March that we can bring back. So far requests have come from ten locations. Project Reprieve is working to maintain cemeteries in Logan, Pope, and Yell Counties. We need your assistance.

WELCOME 2026! We're proud of our finished projects last year. We now begin the new year with potentially ten cemeteries requesting assistance. If you wish to join our force with physical or financial assistance, it will be appreciated. Thank you for following us. We work in Yell, Pope, Logan Counties in Arkansas.

The photo is of a monument for a baby who died after one week in Stafford. The marker was hand carved by his dad as was his wooden casket. According to family the marker was broken and laying on the ground for years. It now stands proudly to honor a young man who struggled to live for a week. His name is Clarence Wagner.

2025 Project Reprieve (RP) Report
I'm reaching out to share an important initiative that means a lot to me and to our community. We're focusing on forgotten cemeteries in Pope, Yell, and Logan Counties in Arkansas. Project Reprieve is dedicated to cleaning and repairing these sacred spaces, ensuring that the memories of those who have passed are honored.

We've successfully completed our 2025 projects and are excited to start planning for 2026. It’s vital work that we undertake at no cost to the cemeteries. We rely solely on volunteers who are passionate about preserving our local history. Your support can make a real difference. Whether it's a small contribution or sharing this message, every bit helps us continue this vital work. Let’s ensure these resting places receive the respect they deserve.

In 2026, we have a list of ten (10) cemeteries who have requested cleanup. Our door remains open for other cemeteries we can add to our list from which we will select in January 2026. One-hundred percent goes to bringing back, cleaning, fencing forgotten cemeteries.

Gravestone Cleaning Made EASY!
Many requests from our readers have come to me asking to explain how to clean marble grave markers. Lichen, moss, algae, and fungi are the culprits and may damage the stone in time. The solution is very simple, one needs:
• A pressurized two or three-gallon sprayer with water, a handheld sprayer for the cleaning agent. I use an old “Spray and Wash” hand sprayer when using the concentrate.
• Start the cleaning process by spraying on plain water, let soak then spray the cleaning chemical on and let set for 10 minutes.
• One needs a special cleaning product. There are many online, D-2 seems to be the favorite, however, I will tell you that I have used other products with success. ReVive is one. I buy it in gallon size concentrate for lower pricing.
• A plastic brush, large and small. Example would be one used for cleaning tires and one around three by two inch and maybe a toothbrush.
• Two plastic putty scrapers large and small. Metal may be used, but don’t damage or scratch the face you are working on. First use plastic scraper to protect the stone. Some monuments have never been cleaned, and the metal could be all that will take it off.
• Several wooden skewers that hold the shish Kebab together. This is used to force out the crud from the indented lettering.
• Once all the gentle scraping is completed, use the pressure sprayer containing water to clean the stone.
• Rubber gloves for your hands. Old rags to clean and dry your hands
• Get some dirty clothes and head to the cemetery.

Remember, use the metal scraper with caution, it can damage the stone and not be repaired. Use only on difficult stones and be easy with it.

Our job at Stafford is finished, new fence, mowed, dead trees removed and more. All work and expense done and paid for by Project Reprieve. Thanks to those who donated to our project and while we were finishing this we worked, mowed, straightened Side Cemetery as well. Pictured here. Both are on Chickalah Mtn AR.
