It was 1963 when young Khmu Edmund Ngeun Channita, just out of the 6th grade from the village of Houei Phon in Xieng Khouang Province, joined the French military "Les Maquisards,” precursor to Gen. Vang Pao’s Special Guerilla Unit (SGU).

When Special Guerilla Unit (SGU) Lt. Yee Xiong arrived in America after the Secret War in Laos, one of the first things he did was adopt the English name Robin as his middle name. Why? Because, he had served as a back seater for the USAF’s clandestine Ravens forward air controllers (FAC) Christened "Robins” by those Ravens the Hmong flew with into battle.
