Owning Premier Barber Company has been one of the most humbling and rewarding journeys of my life. The ups, the downs, the lessons, and the growth have shaped not just the business — but me as a person. Watching this vision evolve into what it’s becoming has been a blessing I truly can’t fully put into words.

I’m deeply grateful for my team, for the community that continues to support us, and most of all — for every single client who sits in our chair and believes in what we’re building. You are the heartbeat of Premier.

Humbled to be a part of ’s latest issue.
My journey as a barber hasn’t been easy, but it’s been real, earned, and built with purpose. Being recognized by one of the top salon magazines in the world is a reminder that consistency, sacrifice, and passion don’t go unnoticed.

Talking to my boy these are the things we agree as barbershop owners, everyone needs to know. Check this :

1. ✂️ “Cutting hair is the EASY part. Running a business is the real job.”

Most barbers think:

“If I’m good at cutting hair, the shop will succeed.”

Reality:
• You become:
• A marketer
• A manager
• A recruiter
• A culture builder
• A numbers & systems person
• You will cut less hair and solve more problems.
• If you don’t build systems:
• You don’t own a business
• You own a stressful job with overhead

Big lesson: Skill pays the bills. Systems build wealth.

2. 💰 “Cash flow matters more than popularity.”

A packed shop can still be broke.

Most owners learn too late:
• Booth rent vs commission changes everything
• One slow month can kill you if:
• Rent is high
• Payroll is high
• You don’t have reserves
• You must track:
• Revenue per chair
• Cost per barber
• Profit margins
• Monthly break-even

3. 🧠 “Your first hires will probably be mistakes — and that’s normal.”

Almost every owner:
• Hires too fast
• Hires on:
• Talent
• Not character
• Not reliability
• Not culture fit

• One bad barber can:
• Kill the vibe
• Poison the team
• Scare away clients
• Create drama and stress

Big lesson:

Protect the culture like your life depends on it — because your business does.

4. 📈 “If you don’t master marketing, you’ll always be grinding.”

Most barbershops rely on:
• Walk-ins
• Word of mouth

Smart owners build:
• Instagram as a lead machine
• Google as a traffic engine

5. 🏗️ “Build something that works WITHOUT you in the chair.”

This one hits hard.

Most owners:
• Are the top barber
• Can’t leave without income dropping

Real freedom comes when:
• The shop runs without you
• You become the owner, not the work
