PSA: NEW FAKE CAPTCHA SCAM!
So, you visit a website and this message appears,
"Verify you're human". No big deal, you’ve seen and responded to this type of prompt many times in your web browsing. EXCEPT IT IS because after completing the CAPTCHA, a message appears saying, "Verification failed. Click Fix It to continue."
This is HUGE RED FLAG, real CAPTCHAs NEVER ask you to do this. In short, if you do click "Fix It," the website secretly copies malicious code to your computer which when activated installs malware on your device.
REMEMBER THIS. A genuine CAPTCHA will only ask you to; click a box, select images, solve a simple math problem, or a puzzle.
It will NEVER ask you for access, or instruct you to download, run or install anything! If a CAPTCHA asks you to do any of these or any other way acts suspiciously, close the site immediately and never return. Contact us for more details.
