For more than four years, Russia's war has been taking husbands and sons from Ukrainian families. The wives, mothers and widows left behind are grieving and still raising their children.

In Ternopil, Healing Hands Foundation opened a center for them: free counseling, art therapy, and a community that doesn't let anyone face it alone.

Our founder, Igor Golubev, volunteered 150+ hours pro bono to build the technology behind it: a registration and case-management portal for their team. Today a family is registered in one click, the team sees who they've reached, and donors see where the help actually went.

Scientists published the complete wiring diagram of a fruit fly's brain this year — 165,000 neurons, every connection, free for anyone to download.
We put it online. Type a yes-or-no question and watch 165,000 real neurons fire and the fly turn one way or the other. It runs on machines in our office here in Sacramento.

Labor, materials, gas — that's the easy math. But travel time, quoting, material runs, loading, setup, invoicing, callbacks... none of that shows up on the invoice, and all of it eats your margin.
Revenue is not profit. If you're working nonstop and still not keeping enough, the leak usually isn't in your prices — it's in the hours nobody's counting.

There’s something strange about running a business today.
A customer can text you at 9:47 PM, and somehow it feels reasonable to expect an answer.
Not because anyone explicitly asked you to work at night.It’s just that everything is immediate now.
A message can come in at any hour.A potential customer can disappear while you’re sleeping.And every unanswered notification starts to feel like a missed opportunity.
So we keep trying to be faster.
Reply sooner.Check one more message.Stay available a little longer.
At some point, the question becomes less about how to grow faster — and more about how much of your own time a business should require from you.

The work nobody put in the job description
Most businesses have someone doing a lot of work that was never really part of their job.
They find leads, check company websites, copy information into a CRM, write similar messages, follow up with people who haven’t replied and keep spreadsheets updated. None of these tasks are particularly difficult, but together they can take several hours every week.
This is usually where we start at IGLAB: looking at what the team does repeatedly and asking which parts actually need a person.
Often, the answer is much smaller than the business expects.
