This is the fourth installment in our 6-part series on KNOW – REACH – MOTIVATE — the Smart2Market framework for effective marketing.

The first three posts each focused on one pillar each. This one brings them all together with two video recaps.

We use AI wherever it adds value. Not as a substitute for human thinking, but as a way to generate ideas and make the process more productive. Below we give you a little peek into how we used AI in these videos.

First, we used AI to develop a script in an interview format — built entirely from our first three posts.
- Our content.
- Our perspective.
- No hallucinations.

This video script features a dialogue between a host and Mark (Chief Creative Officer at Smart2Market) regarding the Smart2Market framework, a methodology designed for B2B technical marketing.

The strategy applies to all marketing but it is very effective for technical marketplaces. It rests on three pillars: KNOW, REACH, and MOTIVATE.

By deeply understanding the technical persona, businesses can move beyond generic messaging to address the specific problems and constraints engineers and other technical people face.

The framework emphasizes intentional reach through targeted campaigns and SEO, ensuring that high-quality content reaches the right stakeholders within a buying committee. Ultimately, the goal is to motivate action by providing the clarity and proof necessary to establish trust and advance the sales process.

Through this approach, companies position themselves as thought leaders and essential partners rather than commodity vendors.

We then used AI to bring the script to life. We created two short videos.

We hope these videos give you insight into marketing to technical buyers using the Smart2Market framework: KNOW - REACH - MOTIVATE.

Serving technical B-2-B markets is different than consumer markets.

You usually aren’t selling a product online. Decisions involve multiple stakeholders, long evaluation cycles, and sometimes even changes to internal processes.

That means marketing has a very specific role: create the moment when the right stakeholder raises their hand and says, “We should look at this.”

This article explores MOTIVATE — Part 3 of our 6-part series on the KNOW–REACH–MOTIVATE framework for technical marketing.

It explains how effective content helps engineers, managers, and procurement teams understand the problem, evaluate alternatives, and move the conversation forward inside their organizations.

We are Smart2Market. A boutique marketing services company, we are very specialized. We serve only B-2-B clients in technical markets. Marketing to engineers and technical staff.

In technical markets, effective marketing isn’t about reaching more people. It’s about reaching the right stakeholders.

Technical buying decisions often involve engineers, managers, procurement, and executives — each evaluating the decision from a different perspective.

That’s why intentional REACH matters.

At Smart2Market, we approach technical marketing through a simple framework:
KNOW – REACH – MOTIVATE

This article focuses on the second element: REACH.

Once you understand the technical buyer (KNOW), the next challenge is making sure the right stakeholders actually see the message.

Effective REACH in technical markets means:
• Identifying the right accounts
• Mapping the buying group
• Aligning messaging to each role
• Sequencing touchpoints deliberately

Not spray-and-pray marketing.
Not broad impressions.
Deliberate visibility to the stakeholders that matter.
For example, when we worked with Allegro MicroSystems, we developed two versions of a whitepaper — one tailored for technical stakeholders and another for purchasing.
Same topic.
Different priorities.
Different messaging.
That’s REACH in practice.
KNOW defines what matters.
REACH the right stakeholders with the right messages.
MOTIVATE drives action.

Most marketing struggles in technical markets start with the same problem:
The marketer doesn’t truly understand the technical buyer.

Engineers, product architects, and technical leaders evaluate things differently.
They look at trade-offs.
They look at constraints.
They look for proof.

If messaging oversimplifies the problem—or misses the real issue they are accountable for solving—it immediately loses credibility.

At Smart2Market, we approach this through a simple framework:
KNOW – REACH – MOTIVATE

This article focuses on the first step: KNOW.

Before producing content, marketers need to understand the persona of the technical buyer:
• What problem are they responsible for solving
• How they evaluate technical trade-offs
• What constraints shape their decisions
• What proof do they require before trusting a claim

When marketing underperforms in technical industries, the issue is often not the content itself.

It’s that the messaging was never built on a deep understanding of the buyer.

We recently worked with Allegro MicroSystems on a highly technical whitepaper in the automotive electronics space that demonstrates how detailed engineering concepts can be communicated clearly without diluting them.
