Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost 25 years ago on this day. We also honor the first responders who ran toward danger with incredible courage and sacrifice.

We will never forget the bravery shown by so many on one of our nation’s darkest days.

"I’ll never forget 9/11, it was the first week of my senior year of high school and we had just taken our senior class photo when we were told what happened. I had a bunch of independent studies that year and I spent the entire morning in the library glued to NBC News. I was already pretty politically aware but that morning shaped me. I started paying attention to the world and politics in a different way starting that day and it’s likely a big reason why I do the work I do." -Kirsten Kukowski

"I was in my second year of college when our professor dismissed class after the first plane hit the World Trade Center. I remember being glued to the TV in our dorm, scared for our country and heartbroken for the families impacted. That day changed the direction of my life. My plans to someday study abroad changed, and I became more politically and civically engaged. Looking back, this day played a large role in shaping my career and why I feel so strongly about doing meaningful work for our country." -Kristen Sheehan

You can spot a “committee-approved” sentence from a mile away.

It may be safe, and it may even be technically right, but if it sounds like no actual human would say it, people are going to keep scrolling.

Kristin Collins writes about why strong communication does not have to choose between strategy and authenticity. The best messages can be thoughtful, polished, and still feel real.

If any of these questions feel a little too familiar, it may be time to bring in professional management.

Associations and nonprofits should not have to operate in constant scramble mode. From board support and financial reporting to events, member communication, and day-to-day operations, the right partner can help bring structure to the work behind the scenes.
