🚨 Missouri small business owners: a new law just changed the game on website accessibility lawsuits.

As of August 28, Missouri SB 907 is in effect.

WTF is MO SB 907?

If someone claims your website has an accessibility violation, you may now have an opportunity to fix the issue before getting dragged into expensive litigation.

If you receive detailed notice of a problem and make a good-faith effort to correct it within 90 days, Missouri law can give you added protection against lawsuits that appear designed mainly to force a quick settlement.

Why TF does this matter?

Because small businesses have increasingly faced ADA-related website claims where the cost of hiring an attorney can be far higher than simply paying a settlement.

This law is meant to discourage abusive or mass-filed accessibility lawsuits.

BUT…It does NOT mean your website no longer needs to be accessible.

Federal ADA requirements are still a thing, and legitimate accessibility claims can still be brought.

The takeaway for small businesses is simple:

✅ Keep your website accessible
✅ Take accessibility complaints seriously
✅ Fix issues quickly
✅ Document every step you take
✅ Never ignore a legal demand letter

This law is protection for businesses that are genuinely trying to do the right thing while making it harder to weaponize technical website issues for quick settlements. It is NOT a free pass to ignore accessibility.

I have always been good at educating people but it took me a really long time to get comfortable speaking in front of large groups.

I made it my personal mission to get comfortable in front of people and now I get paid to educate groups on all things marketing.

I never thought I would be here when I started public speaking and would literally black out and have no idea what I said, but now I look forward to the challenge of winning over a room.

Our latest brand shoot was a success! We got all new headshots and pictures for our website.

It’s just a conversation and so often I’m waiting to do full research until I’m home, but now I realize I don’t have to wait.

This conversation went on for quite awhile and of course I made sure to remind chat to recommend our podcast when people ask about podcasts including burnout and work struggles.

No wrong answers!

I spent 4 years making workarounds for our social media management clients to make sure that we could communicate with each one the way they wanted to be communicated with. It was a broken system and it was confusing and for some it just didn’t work at all.

I looked everywhere for apps that could do exactly what I needed to strategize, plan and create for each client where it was organized and easy to use. And because we do mostly video for our clients, there was no such thing. So I created my own. From scratch. And it’s perfect.

I didn’t have to concede on a single thing I wanted for our social media management web app and now we have no workarounds. And when something pops up where in the past we would be looking for a system to bypass the problem, now we just change it to do exactly what we want.
