A realtor from Maryland had some clients who were selling their home, but there was something they didn’t want to leave behind emotionally — a stained glass window they had brought back from England years ago.

I recreated the design into a custom wooden art piece so they’d still have a piece of that memory wherever they go next.

Video 3 of 3 — and she’s done!

For rural properties, visibility isn’t optional. It’s necessary.

I built this extra large cedar sign for the end of a driveway so it can be seen from the road — day or night.

Added solar post caps and a spotlight so the sign lights itself automatically. No trenching. No wiring. No added utility bill.

And most importantly?
Amazon and DoorDash now stand a fighting chance!!😅

If your address sign is more “decorative suggestion” than “clear direction,” let’s upgrade it.

Welcome to Part 2 of this rural cedar address sign.

This one is all about structure.

✔️ Routing dado grooves so the address panel sets into the frame
✔️ Dry fitting everything before final assembly
✔️ Drilling pocket holes to hide all hardware
✔️ Staining and sealing every piece before it sees Mother Nature

On a rural driveway, this sign needs to handle Oregon weather — so all the prep matters.

Part 3 will be the final assembly (always my favorite part).

The beginning of a large custom address sign for the end of a rural driveway.

Always begins with a focus on prep work:
– Face planing cedar boards
– Drilling pocket holes
– Joining them into a single, solid panel
– Sanding, including the 4x4 cedar posts that will anchor everything in place

Cedar has become a quick fave to work with…gorgeous grain, durable, weather-resistant, and ages beautifully outdoors.

If you’ve got a rural driveway, you already know how important clear, bold, visible numbers are!!

The address panel is officially together. Next up: layout and design.

Every piece, painted and protected, finding its way home again.
As a puzzle person, this part is always another favorite—watching The Rustic Strand sign come back to life piece by piece.😍

Once assembled, it got three more coats of sealant, specifically chosen so this beauty can stay stunning for years to come.

This phase is where durability meets detail.

Because of where this sign will live, it needed multiple coats with a special homemade sealant (trust me, you don’t need to watch all three coats😆), then a special primer and finally the color!👌🏽

I’ve learned over the years how to arrange each piece so painting stays efficient and effective. (one of those behind-the-scenes skills you only pick up with experience over time.)
