I had a very simple project that came over yesterday. A fellow who is now 87 wanted a picture to imitate the feel of a photo he had taken of him 50 years ago. So I duplicated the style of lighting, which was very common in the 1970's and a few generations prior, and toned the print to match the sepia toned black and white print I was shown. The client loved it.

The original on the left was shot on the client's cell phone while it was hanging on the wall, with tungsten lighting which gave it the reddish yellow ting. In real life it looks more like my reproduction.

So pleased was the owner of All Cut Up Hair Salon, Cassie Kurt, with her previous floatation spa commercial, that she offered us the opportunity to film another branding commercial for her business!

Principle photography will begin in a couple of weeks. Pre-production now begins, which includes script writing and story boarding.

Ed Peterson's simple video we created for him. Easy Ed as he like's to call himself, specializes in acoustic guitar sounds. We kept costs minimal by using existing video I had created that we felt would fit his sound.

We made a cheesehead logo for local musician Ed Peterson, who wanted a "bug" as it's called to go in the corner of a short, inexpensive video we're working on for Ed. I like to call it Cheesehead Ed. He wanted something memorable and this is it.

Finishing up some scenes from an upcoming commercial for a Float Away spa experience. Imagine floating in salt water in a zero gravity state - where your mind would wander? This short 3 second clip from our 30 second commercial hopes to convey a sense of enlightment, symbolized by the lotus flower and the glowing transitional effect which lingers.

ENVISION THE UNIMAGINABLE

As commercial, journalistic and portrait photographer I have a unique style. And while I don't always get to do what I want commercially - afterall, photographing a building sometimes just comes down to photographing a building regardless of what I'd really like to create - I do occasionally get my way to the clients benefit. This is especially more true in video where I seem to be given carte blanche.

In an ideal situation create I'll visual landscapes without limitation. Humor can play part in it. My photos and videos ideally are entertaining images filled with escapism, illusions, ambiguities, or curious contradictions, and sometimes vivid colors. Many times they look like the jumped out of a comic book. My photographs are often full of fantasy and satire. I think is far more interesting to people. It probably comes from my years in the entertainment and of all things, singing telegram business, where dressing up in costume is the norm. Ultimately I am discovering new paradigms of truth in myself, and use others to help those images come alive. As my experience and awareness of society continuously grows and I see the relationships formed, I am becoming more of a cultural provocateur, and avatar for a transformative cultural movement and good. I enjoy disrupting the prevailing hierarchy usually with humor and story telling in my photos. You’ll find that there can be a lot of humor in some of my work, or at least a fun feeling. Without humor once in a while the truth becomes unbearable. We’re only here a short amount of time, so let’s have some fun with this.
