Okay, so Gucci put Ryan Gosling in a luggage commercial, and apparently, that's all they think is needed to sell their really expensive luggage. I get it. The man is stupidly good-looking. But we gotta ask the hard questions here. Does a pretty face make you want to spend a ton of money on a suitcase? Are we really out here buying luggage because Ryan Gosling sat next to it in an ad?

I'll be honest... he could be standing next to literally anything and I'd probably think twice about buying it. That's just the Ryan Gosling effect. But today we're gonna look past the eye candy that is Mr. Gosling and actually break down this commercial and whether this Gucci luggage is worth the hype. Let's get into it.

Marketing Intervention: Episode 8 - Can Ryan Gosling Make Us Buy Fancy Luggage?
Hosts: Michael Freeland, Mr. Freeland Design, and Alicia DeHaan, Fili Creative

Let’s talk about making your company merch memorable! Stop making throwaway swag and learn how promo items can expand your story and have lasting impact, making people actually want to keep your giveaways.

🎤 This month’s Creative Connect will also feature Michael Freeland of Mr. Freeland Design.

Michael’s design background gives him a unique perspective on how businesses should approach merchandise, branding, and promotional materials. Through years of developing brands, graphics, and visual identities, he’s seen firsthand how intentional design can turn everyday swag into something memorable and meaningful.

His creative insight helps organizations think differently about how merch looks, feels, functions, and ultimately represents their story.

I’m joining the Logo Archive challenge and putting myself out there. As designers, we always get a bit nervous when it comes to putting your work alongside some of the masters, but we continue to face that fear and do it scared anyway! I did have a difficult time narrowing it down to just this one page, but this is a decent snapshot of my work over the years.

Some of these logo designs went final with my clients and some remain in my concepts vault. I truly enjoy working with clients create a brand that helps them tell a story. I love what I do and I hope it shows through my work.

Thank you to LogoArchive for starting this trend and allowing designers around the world showcase their talent.

Cheers to the dreamers, the doers, the entrepreneurs. Here's to the ones who dared to risk it all and start small. Here's to the retail boutiques, the homegrown coffee vibes, the freelance designer/photographer/videographer, the family-owned & operated, the ones who stand tall in the big box store storm. Support your local stores, entrepreneurs, and those who can dream even bigger with every purchase you make at their establishments. It's Small Business Week, but we really need to celebrate small businesses all year long!

Not My Type: The series continues - showcasing some of the world's most famous logos if they had chosen the world's worst typefaces. Today we have both Levi's and Lee jeans, because I couldn't do Levi's without Lee, as it's a Salina original! This font is called Bleeding Cowboy and it kind of makes your eyes bleed.
