The evolution of the logo.
The 2004 version of the logo introduced the "outside-the-box-exclamation-point." I really liked that idea - even though it was terribly cliche, it was still accurate for how I wanted to be perceived. the exclamation point is very much "left handed," as am I. Blue and black were the colors - basic and a nod to blue being my favorite color. I went with lower case letters, for a sense of play and informality. The font is Myriad Pro, which is a friendly-feeling sans serif face that works well for body text and deadlines.
The 2010 version of the logo is an evolution from 2004. The exclamation point is rounder (friendlier) as is the box it breaks out of. It is now positioned closer to the center. The colors are still blue and black, but the blue is now lighter in tone. The text remains lower case, in a slab-serif font called Nilland that has lots of personality.
The 2016 version of the logo continues the evolution. The exclamation point is no longer "outside the box," but part of a collective of 6 around a center point. The blue is brighter and a little deeper in shade, and the black has been replaced with a dark grey. The font is now all upper-case for a slightly more mature look (and then I don't have the fight the descenders of the "g" and "p") in a simple sans serif font called Lato.
It's fun for me to look back on the evolution and all the steps on the journey these years. Here's to 2024 and logo version #4...
