What tools do you need to start becoming an entrepreneur?

𝗔 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻: A business plan is a detailed document that outlines the goals, strategies, and tactics of a business. It can help you clarify your business's vision, identify your target market, and develop a roadmap for achieving your goals.

𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: As an entrepreneur, you will need to be able to effectively market and sell your products or services to potential customers. This may involve developing marketing strategies, building a website or social media presence, and identifying and reaching out to potential customers.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: As an entrepreneur, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of your business, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking expenses. Three signs you were meant to be an entrepreneur:

𝟭. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿. Taking initiative is crucial in entrepreneurship. No one is standing over your shoulder telling you to get things done. Vacation days don't require a written request. There's nowhere to clock in or out. Without extreme self-control and natural drive, work can fall to second to the many distractions of life.

A good indication that you're a self-starter is your past involvement with groups or causes that didn't provide you any monetary gain. In college, did you start an organization that wasn't already established on campus? Do you volunteer for a charity in your community? Having a get-it-done personality could help you bring your vision to life more easily.

𝟮. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿. Creativity isn't just a quality found in writers and artists. It's a common component of entrepreneurs as well. Research identified that while just 47 percent of people are creative thinkers, the percentage jumps to more than three quarters when looking at entrepreneurs. Since finding innovative ways to solve ordinary problems takes creative thinking, it's actually not that shocking that the majority of entrepreneurs think differently.

𝟯. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿. At the end of the day, those who are willing to put in the most work are usually the ones who reap the greatest reward. If you're the type of person that likes to skate by doing the bare minimum, the heavy workload of entrepreneurship will likely bury you. Entrepreneurs aren't afraid to wear more than one hat, work through the weekend or sacrifice for the success of their business.

As an entrepreneur your output is directly impacted by your input, and if you're not willing to put in the time, your great idea will likely tank.

Consider these three things when launching an online business:

𝟭. 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴. The basic idea behind an online drop shipping business is that, as a small business owner, you don’t have to maintain a large inventory (or any inventory whatsoever) of products or handle any delivery to your customers. That eliminates the financial cost and risk of having a warehouse full of stuff you might not sell, and the hassle of arranging to send orders all over the country or the world. In fact, you don't have to manufacture or store any products at all.

𝟮. 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. Affiliate marketing is somewhat similar to drop shipping but with some key differences. With this e-commerce model, you again don’t maintain an inventory of your own products, and you don’t have to worry about shipping products to customers.

Basically, you pick a profitable niche for your online business, and then you find an affiliate partner who has products available in that niche. Some of the most popular affiliate sites are Clickbank.com, Amazon.com, and CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction). Between them, they offer just about any digital information product (like ebooks, audio files, video files) or physical product you can think of. Many big name companies and brands like Wal-Mart and Home Depot run their own affiliate programs.

𝟯. 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. If you have the expertise or a passion or interest for a subject, you're ready to start making money with a blog. You can start up your blog totally free. You can also create your own site and secure your own hosting for a low price, which is generally the route I recommend, as many free blogging sites have restrictions on what you can say or do, including making money or advertising.

Here are two ways to know you have financial freedom.

𝟭. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸. Unfortunately, living paycheck to paycheck is the reality of millions of Americans. According to the Federal Reserve's Report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households in 2017, some 40% of households could not cover a $400 unexpected expense. Most of us will have some unexpected bills pop up throughout the year such as car repairs, medical bills and nights out drinking with friends. Having an emergency fund will come in handy during those types of situations.

𝟮. 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗯 (𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁). Financial freedom is all about making work an option. Saving enough money to quit your job forever is a huge undertaking. Accumulating enough money to be able to take some time away from working is a big jump in that direction. This does not mean you have to quit your job, but it sure is a good feeling to know you can.

For extra credit you may want to save up for a sabbatical or extended vacation. I dream of spending a month, or two, in a foreign country each year. By no means will I be quitting my job, but it would take some planning in order to be away from my financial firm for that long.

In the shorter term, that extra money could also serve as your emergency fund. I mentioned that just in case some of you wanted some extra motivation to get to this level.

Maybe you only work on certain days of the week. Perhaps you work everyday, but only for a few hours. Whether you’re making time for family or travel, you can shift work to fit any schedule.

𝟮. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.💥When you’re the boss, you make all of the monetary decisions. Start by setting your rates for services or even an hourly rate. You can decide how much and when to pay yourself. You can also decide what to invest in as you expand. Maybe you save instead!

𝟯. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆.💥Even if you’re not working in a creative field, you get to flex your creative muscles daily. Use your creativity to try out new business strategies to make things even better. Utilize your creative ideas in all areas of your work, such as marketing, branding, public relations, problem solving and technology. The options are endless!
