Last week we made a last-minute decision that felt either ambitious or a little unhinged…
We took a podcast to the roof of a parking garage.
For this SA Cowork community spotlight, Audrey McKnight interviewed Josh from Chesapeake Roofing ahead of March’s Last Thursday networking event at Venture X San Antonio Northwest.
And because apparently we like a challenge, we gave ourselves about an hour to get furniture, cameras, audio gear, and the rest of the setup to the top.
Then came the real fun:
Power.
We were far from any normal power source, so the 2025 Chevy Tahoe became part of the production crew. Its outlet gave us at least 150 watts, which was about 60 watts more than we needed to keep the multicam setup running.
Morning sunlight.
Beautiful in person. A little less forgiving on camera. We had to think through angles, set placement, and position the setup within the shadow of the building to help offset the struggle against the light.
Wind.
We brought plants on set to add a little green to the look. The wind had other ideas. A few last-minute unorthodox weights helped keep the set from becoming airborne.
But honestly, that is part of what made it great.
Sometimes the best content does not come from perfect conditions. It comes from saying yes to the idea, solving problems fast, and making something memorable happen anyway.
Big thanks to Audrey McKnight and Josh from Chesapeake Roofing for being great sports and helping make this one happen.
Roof interview.
Roofing guest.
Coworking community.
The theme really wrote itself.
