These macarons look delicious, but they had another job to do. 📸

They were specially made to hold up through a long product shoot at room temperature and under studio lighting without losing their shape or appearance.

When you’re working to get the lighting, composition and little details just right, the food has to be able to hang in there too.

For this shot, I used the straight edge of a level and a speed square to keep the rows and spacing as clean and consistent as possible.

In a setup like this, even a small misalignment can really stand out in the final image.

Here’s a look behind the camera from a recent executive interview shoot with NatureSweet.

One of my favorite parts of production is finding small ways to elevate the image. For this setup, I used a projector attachment on my Aputure 600D to isolate the company logo and give the background a little more depth while keeping the focus on the speaker.
