I want to share a critical mistake I'm finding in almost every brand I work with...

Before I touch copy, before I optimize listings, before I redesign a website, I almost always start with the brand itself.

Here’s why šŸ‘‡

I’m currently working with a bedding company that already has strong sales. Great product, great business.

But their colors and fonts?
They don’t position them where they actually belong in the market.

So even if we wrote the most compelling copy in the world… it wouldn’t land the way it should.

Because design communicates first.

Before a customer reads a single word, they feel something.

And that feeling either builds trust… or creates friction.

*ļøāƒ£ Another example:

I’m reworking Amazon listings for a toy brand right now.

Their branding uses bright red and navy blue across backgrounds and infographics.

That might work in a logo, but in content?

Red signals stop, urgency, even danger.
It can actually cause people to skip right past the information.

On top of that, their logo visually represents a different type of product than what they actually sell.

So before we optimize anything…

We fix the foundation.

This is the part most agencies skip.

A lot of my clients come to me after already paying another agency for ā€œlisting optimization.ā€

But no one addressed:
• Brand positioning
• Color psychology
• Font choices
• Visual consistency
• Whether the brand actually communicates the product’s value

And if those things are off… you’re leaving money on the table.

Also supported supplier contracts, specification documents, and inspection preparation

āœ… Redesigned a Shopify website for a bedding brand to better represent their story and highlight what makes their products special
We reviewed it together today and she loved the direction. Excited to start building

Leading the full listing and image optimization project, from AI mockups to working directly with graphic designers

This is honestly one of my favorite ways to work.

🚨 If your strategy for 2025 or 2026 is to find a product, tweak it slightly, and launch on Amazon using PPC, your next launch is destined for failure...

I recently had a call with an experienced seller who had already built and exited a brand, and he wanted to run this exact old playbook. I had to be completely honest with him: that model is dead.

Here is the harsh reality I am seeing across my entire client base: if you launch a unique, innovative product on Amazon today, it will be copied almost immediately. It does not matter if you have a pending patent or an NDA with your supplier. Overseas copycats, often backed by subsidies, will steal your design overnight and operate at a loss just to win the ranking game. Enforcement is simply too expensive and exhausting to stop the flood anymore.

So, how do you survive and win? You have to adopt the single most important mindset shift in modern e-commerce: Amazon is no longer a launch platform, it is a distribution channel.

The sellers who are actually crushing it right now have a fundamentally different approach:
šŸ”„ Creating Demand First: They are launching on platforms like TikTok to create new demand, rather than fighting over existing search volume on Amazon.
šŸ¤ Leveraging Creators: Instead of burning cash on Amazon PPC, their growth is driven by affiliate and influencer content.
šŸ›”ļø Building Brands, Not Products: A copycat can steal your product design overnight, but they cannot replicate the trust and relationship you build with your community.
