The origin of the tiered wedding cake goes back to Anglo-Saxon England. Guests brought small cakes to the wedding and stacked them on top of each other. Eventually, a clever French baker fashioned a cake in the shape of the small cakes and covered it in frosting. Today, we call that the Traditional tiered wedding cake. But could you imagine how tall a cake might have been in those days?
