Probably the most beautiful photo I’ve ever posted 😭 recycling bins and all 😭 My 127-year-old press to the left, and a new-to-me 103-year-old press to the right.
Let’s see if I can get this story right. Exactly one week ago, my friend Meg () messaged me to tell me about a press shared with Britt () that was free to a good home. I had been looking for another larger press for almost a year, and more seriously in the last month. With *the state of the world* right now, I was hesitant to travel to pick up a new press, so I was hoping for something local. I immediately messaged Ashley, who kindly let me come take a look at it the next day, but let me know that there was another person also very interested in it. That person was another local artist and small business owner, Pei ( ), who knew through our mutual friend, Meg, that I had been looking for a press exactly like this, and offered to take it if only I didn’t. I am so, so grateful that Pei gave me first dibs to take this press and give it a new home.
Two days later, my husband (who was already off all of last week - the timing, right!?), my uncle, and I rented a trailer and a pallet jack and went to pick it up. By pick it up, I mean spend two hours taking it from concrete to wood skids. My husband was like, no problem, but my anxiety said: nope. So I sat in the car and stress-ate French fries. I’m happy to report that it’s in the garage now, with just enough space to reach my laser engraver and my other press (it’s exactly why I wanted one this size!). We have already started cleaning her up (Hunter actually started cleaning her up as soon as she was parked in the garage 😂) and the motor is in the shop and looking promising! 🤞
Thank you, Ashley, for such an incredible opportunity and for passing your beautiful press on to me. I know you had some big dreams for it, and I hope I can continue what you started and make you proud!
To , , , and : I hope you get the chance to come visit her sometime and we can make some pretty things 😍 You are always welcome here! ❤️
