One FAQ we get is, “How do I measure and report on the ROI of PR?” ⁠

To answer these questions, we created this simple step-by-step guide: ⁠

1. Start by framing PR efforts within the context of the overall customer journey. For example, you received X number of media placements — but how does that translate to website traffic or social media growth? Use Google Analytics or your website’s analytic data to determine this.⁠

2. Based on the increased traffic, evaluate the conversion rates on your website or social media profiles. Understand how the incremental traffic contributes to your bottom line. You can also look at your website heat maps: How do visitors interact with the “As Seen In” press section of your website and do you see increases in conversion rate since adding that section, due to the immense social proof it provides? ⁠

3. Remember that PR doesn’t need to feel vague: It’s driven by metrics just as much as any other part of the marketing funnel. When presenting PR outcomes to your CEO, you need to note that PR is often a top-of-funnel effort (meaning it builds awareness, which then needs to be nurtured before the potential customer is ready to convert). ⁠
