Even though we seem to use these terms interchangeably, eco-friendly and sustainability do not mean the same thingβ¦
β¨ This was one of the first lessons from the Greenwash Watch Training at
It really sets the right foundation and has helped me look at sustainability from a different, more meaningful, and global perspective.

Sustainability is about community and leaving no one behind. Itβs a lot more than "saving the planet".
(Btw, the planet doesnβt actually need to be saved. Once weβre gone, it will recover. Humanity on the other hand needs a lot of help right now.)
Sustainability is about protecting our people, future generations, and peopleβs needs so we can live in harmony and health.
πTo find out if a product, brand or practice has an eco-friendly or sustainable focus, we need to look deeper than whether it's organic or local. Itβs about looking at everyone being involved - does it provide social, environmental, and economic benefits for all or does it benefit one group over another one?
Sustainable practices within businesses have the power to be really distributive - to change the way we consume, our expectations, and how we interact with our whole community. From an ego-centric perspective to a focus on our global community. ππ
