My name is Kaitlyn. I’m a Brand & Web Designer for Soul-led women entrepreneurs.

I live in San Diego, but was born and raised in Maryland.

When is the last time you were disappointed by the service at a restaurant?

Let’s say you’ve been recommended this amazing spot by your best friend.

You set the date to visit the restaurant this weekend and everything about is amazing from the ambiance, an inclusive menu, & soothing music.

You’re finally seated and give your order only realize 45 minutes has gone and you haven’t seen nor heard from your waiter.

You start to realize the restaurant isn’t living up to its expectations.

Though the cooks and waiters may have had the intention to do a good job with your service, that wasn’t the reality.

The impact outweigh their intent.

It’s the same with branding.

Your *intention* to be clear doesn’t change the *reality* that they didn’t understand.

You have to resonate with them by speaking their language and not in a way where only *YOU* get it.

Communicate clearly with them across all channels from your Instagram, email, blog, website ect for a cohesive brand.

This is why branding is so much more than the visuals.

It’s a strategic art about communicating to humans through a visual and verbal message.

Just like your words, your visuals tell a story from your colors, fonts, images and patterns.

Your words do too.

It all matters + makes a difference.

P.S. Even if you’re not intentional with your branding *yet* your brand is still communicating a message. One that either repels or attracts.

I've been quiet because I've been called. ⁣

For the past few months I have felt compelled to write more. ⁣

In those months, I ignored the feeling because as a multi-passionate person I've always heard it was best to focus one thing. ⁣

For me that thing is brand & web design and while I love pursuing it, this single focus has stopped me from writing. ⁣

I felt like I couldn't do both at the same time and do them well. ⁣

In these previous months, I've felt a nudge from within that my writing needs to be shared with the world. ⁣

Because for me, writing has always been an outlet and a way to express myself. ⁣

I have been writing creatively since I was around 8 years old. ⁣

One would say it's my first love. ⁣

From writing poems, short stories, to fan fictions and novels it's etched into who I am at the core. ⁣

It's my innate expertise, my God-given talent and one of the things I was called to do. ⁣

During the last 2.5 years, I have barely written anything. ⁣

I found the words no longer came to me how they use to and for once I was left with nothing to say.⁣

So I found my outlet through brand & web design -- a creative way to express myself through visuals and messaging and I love that for me. ⁣

But now, I am feeling called to share my writing in more than one way. ⁣

I guess you can say I'm in a period of exploration where I'm trying to figure things out. And that's okay. ⁣

Of course, I'm still going to be a brand & web designer, but I'm also on this venture to find out ways to share my writing. ⁣

Life is a journey and seasons change. ⁣

“You need to swim with blinders on.”

When swimming in a race you must stay in your own lane. If you stop for even a second to look around or behind you to see what your competitors are doing — You lose the race.

(No, it’s not about winning but about staying true to you and elevating from the previous version of yourself.”

You need to swim with blinders on.

It’s the same thing for entrepreneurship.

There is a lane that you carved out, crafted and birth. A lane that looks so different than anyone else’s because it is YOURS.

When you try to:
✨Imitate what other’s are doing
✨Use other people’s brand as inspiration (loosely copying) for yours
✨Piecing together parts of different brands to create yours

That’s when you lose sight of all the things that make you different.

Your authenticity is what’s going to set you apart. It’s what’s makes you, YOU.

Authenticity is both relatable & sustainable. It can move mountains for you.

And even though there are several others in your niche that do exactly what you do, sell what you sell…no one can talk about how you do.

No one can show up and share their personality while sharing their offer quite like you.

There’s something about your unique background and innate expertise that allow you to create the transformation that you do.

There’s something about your experiences & overall being that allows you to do business how ONLY YOU do business .

But if you swim without your blinders on, you lose sight of all the things that make you magical.

So show up as your most authentic self & choose you always.

How uncomfortable do I look in this picture?

What would you say?

For me it was a -100.

I looked as uncomfortable as I felt.

When I first shifted from social media to branding, I rebranded.

This was 2019 when things were still very new and I no idea what my brand actually was yet.

Me and my boyfriend (Travis) went to Balboa Park here in San Diego and he snapped photos of me with my Cannon Camera.

On this overcast day, I chose to wear a suit. Navy Blue slacks, pink blouse and a blazer.

My attempt was to look as “professional” as possible because at the time I thought I had to dress this way.

I believed that I had to wear a suit to be & appear legit.

If you know me, you know I hate suits. (This probably stems from 15 years of wearing a uniform in school.)

And that I had also just cut off all my hair and wasn’t feeling it. At all.

I was so caught up on what I thought a business owner *should* look like and not what I looked like as a business owner.

Once I learned to release the “shoulds” of entrepreneurship and learned to embrace my own unique and individualized journey is when I really stepped into alignment with my purpose.

There are no “should’s” in business.

You can literally make and break all the rules as you see fit. (Or say fck the rules)

It’s your business on your own terms and you can do what you want. In fact, just being you is what attracts the people that vibe with you.

When I released the should’s and tapped into my intuition & spirituality is when I started running a business that felt damn good to me.

A business where I encourage my clients to tune into their intuition while also implementing strategy.

One that helps soul-centered women create brands that feel energetically aligned to who they are & their dreamy clients.

My approach to business is really about figuring out that sweet spot that allows you to work intuitively and not just doing things because I think you should.

Your innate expertise helps show you are credible, qualified, and showcases the unique way that ONLY YOU do business and has a huge part in the way you get results for your clients. ⁣

This is like your wow factor. It’s the thing that makes you different from others in your niche. Your background and experiences also make up your innate expertise. ⁣

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭? ⁣
Look for connection all around you from the beginning of your life until now. Look at those experiences, those stand out moments, memories that have helped shape you into the person you are TODAY and pull from there. ⁣

P.S. Don’t skip over the parts you feel are boring or parts you feel don’t make sense. ⁣

Have you ever played a bad game of telephone where the message got lost in translation?

You know the classic school game of telephone where someone has to say a phrase and the rest of people are tasked to keep the message in tact as it gets passed down.

Sometimes the message would get distorted and that’s the same thing that can happen to your brand if you’re aren’t super clear.

Whether you are intentional or not about what you say, you’re STILL sending a message.

One that attracts dream clients or one that repels them.

Remember: A confused mind doesn’t buy. A confused mind doesn’t take aligned action.

Your website, online presence and brand should all work together & have a clear and cohesive message.

They should all work FOR YOU by doing the job of consistently inviting in new opportunities & dream clients into your portal.

Words matter. What you say and how you say things matters.

It’s not always that, that dream client doesn’t want to work with you.

They may just not understand what you’re trying to say, how you can help or what it is exactly that you do.

You may be sending the message in a way *YOU* get it, but to resonate with them you have to know how to to speak their language.

Even if you think you’re clear in what you say, dream have think so too!! Your *intention* to be clear doesn’t change the *reality* that didn’t understand.

You have to make them feel seen, heard, and understood through what you say & how.

Your online presence has to invite them in and clearly communicate what your about.

Your brand has to speak to their heart & soul and capture their eye + captivate them.

If you’re not *intentional* about what you say, you’re still sending them a message.

Is your message and online presence clear?

Do your dream clients know exactly how you can help them?

Do you know how to speak the language of your dream clients?

A mistake I made early in my business is sharing too much information with the wrong people.

When I first started this business, I confided in people I thought I was close to about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship and my journey.

I spoke about the set backs, the wins, the losses and everything in between.

I sought advice from people who have no idea what it is that I even do.

Advice from people who were too embedded in their comfort zone to even see my vision.

In my search for someone to understand my plight and without realizing I was talking to people who weren’t even rooting for me.

Recently I spoke with someone from my “close friends” where the conversation made me so uncomfortable that it upset my stomach.⁣

My body was sending me signals as I realized I shared too much.

Truth is, it wasn't the first time this had happened, but it was the first time I felt so deeply in my spirit that I had to get serious about releasing this attachment. ⁣

Evolve or repeat.

As I strive to reach new levels in my business and in my personal life, I’m realizing I’m going to have to sever ties with the people & things that aren't apart of this new identity I’m becoming. ⁣

You simply can't reach new levels while trying to do the same thing over and over again.

Sometimes it’s the people you love dearly that can’t take a front seat on your journey.

I say all of this to say.

Not everyone is meant to bare witness to the magic that is you.

Not everyone is meant to follow you along your journey nor is everyone rooting for you.

If that person makes you feel like you have to eat humble pie all of the time, choose to talk your s**t instead.

⁣Be cautious of the voices you listen to. Not everyone is the guide.

Listen to your spirit, it will always reveal to you what it is you must free yourself from.

Prioritize your peace and protect your energy.

I know I will be.

In this season of my life, I’m releasing the friendships and relationships that aren’t meant to grow with me.

Often times when working with a Fiverr Designer, you may be asked to send an example of what you're looking for in terms of logo design, website, and colors. ⁣

So naturally you turn to Google, Pinterest or to your favorite business to seek inspiration of what you want your brand to look like.⁣

The problem with this is, you don't know 𝗪𝐇𝐘 their logo looks how it does, their brand strategy or who their ideal client is. ⁣

Because it works for them, doesn't mean it will work for you. ⁣

Your brand is different than theirs and you are different than them.⁣

You deserve a brand that's uniquely & authentically yours. ⁣

So instead of blindly getting a logo or website created with someone else's brand in mind, tap into who you are who you are at your authentic core and look for the answers within. ⁣

Stop looking at everyone else's brand for inspiration for yours! ⁣

You have all you need inside of you, you just have to do the deep inner work that *is* brand strategy so you can uncover the essence of your brand. ⁣

Using someone else's brand to create yours causes will cause a disconnect and will not be in alignment with you are or who your dreamy clients are because your brand will be a compilation of everyone else's 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴.⁣

(𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲.) ⁣

Copying and using other brand's for inspiration will not allow you to elevate how you want to. ⁣

You need a brand that's created from within. ⁣

There are dream clients who are interested in working with you.

It's just they are on the other side waiting for you to show up, share who you are & do what you said you were going to do.

They’re waiting for you to take inspired action, to elevate and to stop playing it small.

Building a business with a deeply rooted foundation thats able to have longevity, expansion and impact is not an easy thing to do…especially all alone.

Trying to do it all and figure it out all on your own ultimately takes away time from you to be able to do the thing you were called to do.

How can you give your all to the work you were called to do when you’re too busy being the marketer? The web designer? The business coach?

Each hat you wear belongs to someone else who has that innate expertise that’s meant to help you along your journey.

So just because you *can* do all of the things, doesn’t mean you should.

Open yourself up to receive help by collaborating with someone who doesn’t have the same expertise as you.

Each time you collab you are casting a vote for your future self, vision & the expansion + impact your business will have for generations to come.

And if you want dream clients to invest in you, make sure you’re investing in YOU and your business first.

Allow the seed of your business to be planted in a community garden where those around you can help you grow based on their knowledge and zone of genius.

You can take time to piece together information or you can choose to collaborate with someone who’s genius differs from yours.
