It’s been a busy few months! Here’s what life has looked like 📷

I’ve decided to start a monthly print club because I wanted a space to make small, experimental print objects (basically an excuse to make stuff that has been living in my head anyway).

I’m often inspired by creative fields outside of graphic design (fashion, architecture, interior design, etc…) and I bring those perspectives & references into my work. A few months ago I came across LOEWE‘s newspaper bag charm and couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I thought it’d be fun to make my own version: a set of three mini saddle-stitched books, each its own self-contained story about design, bound together as a bag charm.

For AANHPI Heritage Month, a spotlight on a few of the entrepreneurs I’ve had the privilege of working with — and in many cases, the privilege of calling friends.

What strikes me about this group is that even the clients who didn’t come to me for branding are makers, people who are creating something of their own, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence. It’s the kind of people I’m drawn to, and apparently the kind of people who are drawn to my work too.

A PATTERN OF THE UNEXPECTED

There is a frequent misconception that elevated design requires a sort of rigid, minimalist seriousness. But I think it can be playful and unexpected without losing its editorial edge. Design can be unconventional yet completely at home in an elevated space.

Our first interaction with a dining experience is almost always tactile. I’ve always leaned toward designing pieces that demand a bit of curiosity before you even read them—tangible objects that elevate a space and set the tone for the evening. I view menus as an opportunity to add to the overall tablescape design and bridge the gap between utility and art.
