Thank you to those who shared my last post on their own Instagram stories. Although there’s now a vaccine and things are inching their way to “normalcy,” I hope it was able to give you a better visual to the amount of people that were tragically lost due to this deadly virus.

I read a few comments and DM’s saying, “that’s a lot of names.” In this memorial display alone, it lists 400 names of Sharp Chula Vista covid-19 patients who lost their lives.

Currently, there are 55,557 covid deaths in California. If a memorial display like this was made to include all of those names, you’d be looking at 394 pillars/boards. But how about the current number of 536,000 covid deaths in the U.S.? That would be 3,801 pillars/boards...Now THAT’S a lot of names.

To put it in perspective, that’s more names than the 58,286 names included on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in DC. For those who are unfamiliar or not good with numbers like myself, swipe to gain a visual and then multiply that by A LOT. @ San Diego, California

3-Panel Acrylic Display with custom stands for in remembrance of patients who lost their lives to COVID-19 last year. 🙏🏼 Last week marked 1 full year of the pandemic. To commemorate this, a beautiful ceremony was held in order to allow the staff at Chula Vista to reflect and properly mourn the lost lives of their own patients, some being their fellow coworkers. The large display is planned to be housed in their meditation garden for staff to continue to visit.

The subject matter of this commissioned piece is very near and dear to me. I’ve had my own immediate family members contract COVID-19 and for some, the road to recovery wasn’t a smooth one. I know it’s been a long year, and everyone is tired but please remember that covid cases still exist and we are not truly out of the woods yet. Continue to mask up, practice social distancing, stop the large indoor gatherings, and when it’s your time, please get vaccinated!

Sometimes you have to create just for yourself. On a night I couldn’t fall asleep, I whipped up this first attempt at a house illustration. And what better way to try it out than with mine and Jan’s first house. For privacy purposes, I’m not one to post photos showing where I live. TBH this illustration makes be a tad bit uncomfortable that it’s the whole front side of our house, but I was dying to draw the roof shingles, and once you conquer those, drawing the rest just becomes addicting! 🤓

I threw in the photo that was taken of us when we first got our keys to this house, too! It’s my ode to A-Ha’s 1985 “Take On Me” music video (check my stories if you have no idea what I’m talking about). It happens to be my earliest memory of art inspiration and I’m glad it has stuck around with me for this long. Thinking about making this into a print. 🤔 And I might regret saying this, but I kinda wanna do more of these. A new idea is definitely brewing.

Between juggling work zoom calls, I was also running a marathon of doormat painting. This was my biggest order of 12 doormats AND the first time I played with color. 😍

The design was fully custom to meet brand guidelines by using their logo, color palette, font (paired with my hand-lettering), and adding a subtle nod to the gradient effect that can sometimes be seen in their brand graphics.

Highlight of my recent days are walks with these guys! Jan is part of the frontline, mostly working 12+ hours, 5 days a week and sometimes the weekends. So our walks together are now special occasions...so special that we sometimes get dressed up for them. 😆

When days feel like weeks, weeks feel like months, and months feel like years, it’s up to us to look at the brighter side of things. Simple things have now become grand gestures, and when this is all over, I hope we all still remember that.

Instead of counting how many quarantine days it’s been, count (or comment because I’m nosy!) all the small blessings this new routine has given YOU and celebrate that instead.🌻☀️

I’ve been kinda anti-social on here since the start of the year. The irony is that as soon as I felt like jumping back into being a social butterfly 🦋, coronavirus caused global self-isolation. But, despite that, i felt i can still pop in, say “Hi,” and reconnect anyways, by sharing a small biz update:

To start off, I’ve been working a sweet DAY GIG as a Graphic Designer and enjoying every bit of reporting to an office OUTSIDE of my home. (Main reason why I’ve been MIA) Because of this, changed to a SIDE HUSTLE. 😌

I’ve eliminated wedding services. But, if you’re here for wedding related things, you can still slide into the DMs. Like always, I’M HERE TO HELP 😊 and I’d love to refer you out to someone I know.

I’m still SLANGING HAND PAINTED DOORMATS and sketching out new designs for stylish homeowners, and the best real estate agents. (🛒LINK IN BIO if you want to purchase)

I’m REBUILDING my portfolio to reflect my long-standing passion for branding. (Also, the main reason why i haven’t posted to ig in a long time.) With this next chapter I’m making a few changes on my website and service packages to better serve my ideal branding clients. So stay tuned for that!

Thought I’d finally share a piece from the one and only wedding I worked on this year! Big love to these high school sweethearts! 💞The Frosted Acrylic Welcome Sign was accompanied by an order of es**rt cards, menus, and ceremony/reception programs. 😊

In a world where numbers measure success, no one celebrates 1 wedding client within 365 days, but I am! All year I was blessed to still receive dreamy wedding inquiries from wedding planners, personal contacts, and styled shoot organizers, but I decided that this was in need of hopping off that hamster wheel of wedding designs to basically breathe and give space to create, intentionally.

I gave myself grace this year and with 3 days left of 2019, I’m ready for 2020 to become a huge transitional year! 🚀
