Honoring The Women That Made A Difference

As we reflect on this day, we honor the women that made a difference. No words can ever express our sincere gratitude for the unconditional love and support to our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and to the women called into our lives to empower us and make a lasting impact. Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day.

It's been an honor representing veteran women business owners making power moves and while serving their communities "beyond the uniform." We're proud to showcase Army Veteran & CEO Toni Brooks in our April Client Spotlight series.

Meet Toni Brooks:

For many veterans, leaving the military and transitioning back to civilian life can be challenging, especially securing employment or choosing a new career path. The former Army National Guard turned CEO, Toni Brooks, wanted to make a difference for her sisters veterans re-entering the workforce. Brooks, driven by her own personal experience of facing homelessness, created the Toni Brooks Foundation, a non-profit 501(c), which provides free brand-new designer apparel for women veterans in transition. Brooks wanted to remove the unwanted stress and burden from the service member and allow them to focus on walking in the interview feeling confident, looking fabulous, nailing the interview, and securing their new opportunity. Currently, the Toni Brooks Foundation has received over $76,000 in designer clothing and cosmetics and served over 1,200 women veterans.

Our client has been featured on ABC 7 Los Angeles, Access Daily, The Steve Harvey Show, and LA Voyager.

Let's talk visibility! During a recent consultation call, I was asked the following question, "As a business owner how I can gain visibility while social distancing?" The pandemic has caused a major shift for entrepreneurs and business owners to remain relevant and visible while staying safe at home. Here are 3 ways to Gain Visibility:

Remember no one knows your in business unless you show up! Stay connected with your customers through your company website and internal emails to include updates, virtual events and giveaways. Don't forget to include your signature logo and tagline with your content.

2. Be proactive! Promote your products and services on your social media platforms. Attract new customers and followers with creative content using videos on Instagram Reels and TikTok.

3. Request to write an opinion editorial for your newspaper.

Bonus Tip: Help A Reporter Out! Journalists and reporters need subject matter experts to lend credibility to news stories and digital content.

While managing a career in broadcast journalism, I realized something was missing...the lack of PR representation for minority women and veteran business owners. As a publicist, it became my mission to ensure their stories and narratives received the visibility they rightfully deserved.

In 2014, Harris took a leap of faith and started her PR business through word of mouth and never looked back. For the past six years KLH Media Group has secured local and national media coverage for their clients and the military veteran community. Harris also shares her experiences from “active duty to the newsroom” for military service members transitioning to

civilian life. “It’s important to empower our active duty and veterans to brand their unique talents and skills for success “beyond the uniform.”

Despite the challenges during 2020, due to COVID-19, Harris is grateful that the virtual doors of KLH Media Group have remained open to support her clients, team, partners and the community. “As we walk into a new day and season I want everyone to remain encouraged and hopeful for 2021. I look forward to building the next chapter of KLH Media Group and beyond.”
