This 1200 square meter mosaic, thought to be a public space, opened to the public after 9 years of painstaking excavation. It survived earthquakes without breaking which resulted in the wavy surface. Found in Antakya, Turkey. 😍

Have you looked at your logo lately?

My first project of 2025 was a logo refresh for the San Diego Lawn Bowling Club, a 93-year-old organization. Their existing logo? A low-resolution copy of a blurry low-resolution copy—any original files long lost.

After assessing their needs, I recreated the original graphic, making both subtle and significant design tweaks to improve retention, readability, and scalability. This included refining the visual elements, detailing the foliage, simplifying the line art, and embedding the founding date to reinforce the club’s connection to Balboa Park. I also noticed a key element was missing—as my client put it, “The addition of the lawn and bowl is genius.”

The final package included a full suite of standard logo files—black & white, reverse, and color versions—optimized for both digital and print.

If you’re considering a logo refresh, I’ve put together this short deck to help you get started. DM me—I’d love to help!

I finished my first public mural project - awarded this summer through a call for artists by the . Thanks to a referral from , myself along with the talented and replaced the Flag Day mural at La Mesa’s Walk of the Stars, painted by local artists Janne LaValle and Kathleen Strzelecki in 2004.

It was a wonderful experience and I’m very grateful for all the help (including Fiona and Dom!). From the original concept phase to chalking the outlines, to slapping paint, it was a true labor of love! And it turned out great!!

Swing by and enjoy all the new murals, 8 of them total, each from different artists.

It’s alway a booster working with design students… makes me appreciate our progresses and how others approach the challenges. I was invited to critique Allan Manzano’s Graphic Design class, first year, and I was blown away. The program he created is tight and it shows through the work!

I’m more inspired and super excited to see the next iteration of these re-branding project.

Enjoyed a stellar day across the boarder for the opening of https://www.tijuanadesignweek.com! Our small crew of designers ( ) made it for the Saturday afternoon events. We had lunch at Maiz Restaurant (.popularmexicano), checked out the TJDW showroom at Matiz Estudio (.mx), grabbed an the original Caesar Salad (), caught the event Fluid Communities, featuring five regional designers (translator included), then rounded out the trip with the opening night gathering!!

I was asked by fellow designer and friend, Min Choi, Professor, Media Arts and Technologies (MAT) at MiraCosta College, to visit with the Design Club students. MAT is located in Oceanside, offering courses and programs in graphic design, web design and development, UI/UX design, video and media design, and more.

My focus was on the "Business of Design", to help those considering the leap into a solo business or side hustle selling creative services. We touched on the basic requirements for starting a business and the importance of making community and industry connections. As an independent creative and small business owner myself, mastering ones craft is only part of the equation, knowing how to conduct business is equally as critical to ones success along with growing and nurturing your support chain.

Not surprising, some students were already side hustling and others where considering their options. The club members were engaged, asked good questions, and new connections were made.

Sharing the taking points covered (link). I included a couple of resource pages with local design organizations and required reading recommendations. Time to update the library!! I closed with some friendly advice provided by a few friends. With gratitude, I thank Min and the Design Club for the opportunity and I'm thankful for the creative wisdom shared by my friends.
