POV: You spend all day advising Fortune 500 execs on protecting their brand reputation, then immediately blast the most unhinged playlist on your drive home

Me at 3pm: “Let’s craft a thoughtful response that aligns with your brand values and demonstrates accountability...”

Me at 5:01pm: 🎵 “He don’t wanna be saved, don’t save him” 🎵

↳ The whiplash between corporate polish and personal chaos is REAL
↳ Most of us contain multitudes (and questionable Spotify choices)

Imagine how tired we are of code-switching between “strategic communications professional” and “whatever this vibe is.”

This is what work-life balance looks like when decompressing with music that says everything you couldn’t say in those meetings.

POV: You followed the creative brief to the letter and the client still says “this isn’t what I envisioned”

Me: *reads brief 47 times*
Me: *follows every single bullet point*
Me: *delivers exactly what was requested*
Client: “Hmm, this isn’t quite right”

↳ The brief said “professional but fun” bestie, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
↳ “I’ll know it when I see it” is not a creative direction
↳ Turns out the vision in their head never made it to the document

And then bam, right when you think you nailed it, they hit you with “can we try something completely different?”

Next time, let’s translate “I’ll know it when I see it” into something the creative team can actually use.

POV: You’re finally examining your “coping skills” and realizing half of them are just...

Overfunctioning during a crisis?
That’s not coping, bestie.
That’s just me convincing myself I’m fine while simultaneously managing everyone else’s problems, answering emails at 11pm, and pretending my nervous system isn’t screaming.

↳ The eldest daughter energy is STRONG with this one
↳ Turns out “being needed” isn’t the same as “being okay”
↳ Who’s gonna tell her that rest is actually productive?

Imagine how tired we are of calling our trauma responses “skills” 💀

Maybe it’s not “high-functioning” — maybe it’s just “chronically tired with great follow-through.

Q4 is crazy.
This year especially.

And I’m also solo-parenting my ass off right now.
Which is… a lot.

When I told my husband unexpectedly deployed, she very sweetly asked if I wanted to reschedule.

Lol. Adorable. As if she has even one stray hour left between the 63,837,363 shoots she’s doing this year. But of course she offered.)

I told her, “let’s just do it.”
And I’m so glad we did 🥹

I’ve been nonstop this year.
And somewhere in the middle of all the responsibility, the creative piece kind of… evaporated.

But this shoot has been sitting on my brand board for what felt like years.

Slowly collecting dust.
Quietly judging me from the corner.

So in the middle of the chaos and the deadlines and the solo-parenting season, this ended up being exactly what I needed.

A little reset.
A reminder that I get to be more than the roles that pull at me all day.

More than a business owner.
More than a mother.
More than a publicist.

Just…a gussied up little me.
For a minute.

And honestly? It felt really good.

10/10 would recommend.

POV: You have 3 minutes of personal time before back-to-back calls.

“Go crazy” they said. So I:
↳ Responded to one text
↳ Took a sip of cold coffee
↳ Questioned all my life choices

This is PR life.

Your “lunch break” is answering personal texts between a crisis call and a media pitch.

Your “me time” is the 90 seconds before your calendar explodes.

And somehow, we’re supposed to be the experts on “strategic communication” when we can’t even communicate to our friends why we’re always MIA.

The irony? We manage everyone else’s reputation while our own group chats think we’re ghosts.

Marketers: What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve tried to squeeze into a 3-minute break? Spill. 👇

POV: You’re scrolling through your phone on a rare peaceful morning, and then you remember what industry you chose.

Marketing in 2025 hits different when you’re juggling:

The algorithm changing every 3 business days
Clients who think AI can replace strategy (it can’t)
“Just make it go viral” briefs with $0 budget
Platform drama that makes reality TV look stable

But here’s the thing—we’re still here.
Still pitching bold ideas.
Still turning chaos into campaigns.
Still proving that strategic communication matters more than ever.

Most days it’s hilarious. Every day it’s real.

Marketers and PR pros: what’s the most unhinged thing about working in our industry right now? Let’s commiserate in the comments. 👇

POV: You’re a publicist watching the news cycle drain your soul in real time.

Imagine how tired we are of pitching stories that get buried under chaos.

Imagine how tired we are of explaining why “just put out a statement” isn’t a strategy.

Imagine how tired we are of pretending the news cycle is predictable.

But here’s the thing—when everyone’s exhausted by the noise, that’s when strategic communication matters most.

Not louder.
Smarter.

↳ Know when to speak up
↳ Know when to let the moment pass
↳ Know the difference between reacting and responding

PR pros: What’s draining YOU most about the current news cycle? Let’s commiserate in the comments. 👇

What does 10,000 hours of communication work and eldest-daughter energy look like?

A take no hostages and give no effs attitude.

And that’s not a coincidence.

I was the first daughter. The first granddaughter. The one who got handed a baby before I could drive and told, “Help your aunt.”

No wonder I thrive in media relations.
No wonder I can read a room in 3 seconds flat.
No wonder I know how to package a messy story with a clean headline.

That early training? It taught me:
↳ Keep it together.
↳ Keep it moving.
↳ Keep everyone else from falling apart.

It’s not just managing the message. Its owning the narrative.

If you know, you know: Eldest daughters make the best marketers.
Tag one who’s running sh*t without ever asking for credit.

POV: You’re watching an exec who said “I don’t need media training” do their first interview.

And then bam, right when you think they’re gonna wrap it up... they keep right on talking.

This is the moment every PR pro feels their soul leave their body.

↳ The rambling that goes nowhere
↳ The inability to land on a clear message
↳ The painful awareness that this is being recorded
↳ The knowledge that you TOLD them this would happen

Here’s the thing: executives who skip media training aren’t bad communicators. They’re just used to boardrooms where rambling = thorough. But in media? Rambling = soundbite disaster.

Media training isn’t about making people robotic. It’s about teaching them to:
↳ Land the plane on their key message
↳ Know when to stop talking (this is the hardest part)
↳ Bridge back to what actually matters
↳ Avoid the verbal wandering that kills credibility

Every exec thinks they’re the exception. They’re not.

Cancel culture isn’t new.

But in 2025? It’s got a Ring light, a finsta, and a 24/7 audience.

By the time Legal finishes “just a few small edits,”
↳ The algorithm has already buried your brand six feet under.

The brands that survive don’t react fast.
They listen first.
↳ To the comments. To the culture. To the stuff their CEO still thinks is “just a trend.”

PR pros — what’s your first move when it all hits the fan?

(Spoiler: if it starts with “circle back,” you’re already behind.)

Let’s hear it.
