Typography is one of my favorite aspects of design! I touched on this in a post from earlier where I provided a list of reliable type foundries to use, so check that out!

Typefaces are constantly being created and trends are constantly changing. Because of this, it is so important to stay fresh and updated on new type & trends!

At the moment, I am loving serif fonts with delicate serifs & terminals. These fonts look clean and sophisticated, and they elevate any brand!

What are your thoughts on these typefaces? Also, what type are you loving right now? No gatekeeping here!

As a graphic designer, typefaces become your best friend. They are essential when creating brand identities and more! Because of this, it is important to use typefaces from reliable type foundries that have a variety of weights for your client to use.

I know we all love Creative Market and it has its benefits; however, some of the typefaces on this platform have not been fully flushed out. What does this mean? Fonts from Creative Market are good as a base when creating custom typefaces, but require you to make small changes such as kerning and adjustments to the type itself. In addition to this, I believe the fonts on Creative Market are more trendy and unique but begin to look repetitive.

My rule of thumb is to search for unique fonts on Creative Market and search for sophisticated fonts on other platforms. Some of my favorite type foundries are:
- Pangram Pangram Foundry
- The Designers Foundry
- Luzi Type
- Letters from Sweden
- Sharp Type

Many of these foundries have extensive experience creating fonts which results in reliable and functional typefaces. In addition, many of these foundries have trial fonts that designers can use prior to purchasing. This is extremely helpful when designing for a client where the client is solely responsible for purchasing the type licensing.

Hope this has helped you! If you enjoy seeing design tips & resources comment below! I would love to hear from you!

Yesterday the website launched, and we are finally booking clients for January through March!

Every company deserves branding that correctly reflects the values of their business. Proper branding includes more than just a logo, it encompasses everything from the values it stands for, messaging and voice, and any touch points between the target audience and the company.

It is known that it only takes 10 seconds for a consumer to make judgments based on your branding and logo design, let’s make that a positive one!

Finished this custom watercolor painting a few months ago! This was ordered as an anniversary gift, so thoughtful! Love how it turned out!

I haven’t been taking on many paintings lately as I am trying to focus on branding projects. However, when I get to work on one, it reminds me how much I love the fine art of painting! Keep an eye out for the occasional painting!

Seeing the final print of the 1 Timothy study journal in action brings me so much joy!

I love using the knowledge I’ve gained of user experience and applying it to print. A lot of people forget about the UX aspect of design but it is essential! Sure, design can be beautiful but it also needs to be productive for the end user.

A good piece of advice is to ask yourself if a design choice has been made based off aesthetics or user needs. This is a process of understanding the users’ problems, processes, goals and preferences.

Since this journal is intended for the user to use at home and at church, it was essential to include ample white space for note-taking. Also, the leading of the scripture passage was spaced out more than normal to allow the user to annotate the text. All of these decisions were made to encourage the user to read and take notes on their own.

One of my favorite projects to date!

Back in 2021, I was the design lead for the 1 Timothy teaching series. I worked with the worship pastors of each campus to gather information and create the vision for this series. After many meetings and research, I came up with the theme, “Fight for Godliness”. This theme is evident in the art direction, art curation, study book design, and teaching slide designs.

By working with Fellowship’s art ministry, Spectra, I showcased original artwork from local artists in the Northwest Arkansas area. I strategically picked each piece of art to display in the book depending on the content. Each week has a different topic that the art symbolizes.

In addition to the study book, I created teaching slides for our adults, students, and kids ministries.
