In March at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We decided to go to a distributed work model permanently. I’m thankful for all the amazing employees at Motive who made the transition a breeze. Today as we start the process of breakdown one of our offices I found a hidden gem. One of my personal favorite Motive traditions is “The Easter Boozer” where we hide booze and let employees find it around the office. This one may have been there for years! One of the many perks of having an office that I will miss as a CEO.

The shock of an iPad hitting my windshield while driving on the highway the other day left me a little startled.

The realization that it was my son's iPad, the only link to his teachers, and the only thing keeping my wife and me sane right now, that was pure terror.

It’s taken us over a month to dial-in this damn iPad. Zoom, Google Classroom, Spelling City, Epic!, Raz-Kids, Imagine Learning, i-Ready.

Over the past two months, we went from a “limited screen time” household to one that’s survival depends on this iPad and I was not going to let it fly away.

We all need a little humor right now. I hope my morning insanity gives you a chuckle.

Oh, and if you are wondering how that iPad got there in the first place. After reviewing our security footage at the house it became pretty clear who was at fault.

When you give a 6-year-old an iPad to do homeschooling he spends most of his time hiding in the driveway watching BMX and Snowboard videos on YouTube. In a fit of rage, this anti-screen dad took it away and placed it on the hood of his car then the next day I drove to work :)

Motive staff has been working from home for well over a month now, and they don’t miss a beat! As a CEO with two young kids at home I know how difficult it can be. Although 99% of the time it’s chaos once in a while it comes together and is always blessing to be able to spend time together. Looking forward to getting our offices opened back up! We believe every company should take a stand and do whatever possible to decrease waste & strive for sustainability. Long ago we stopped using single-use foodware and water bottles / cans. We partner with great companies to help us achieve a more eco-friendly workplace including Bevi VendiBean & Joyride Coffee Distributors.

Yes we have to wash a few mugs and dishes but we drink amazing water, awesome coffee and we don’t pollute the planet. Protect Our Winters San Diego, California
