As we get ready for the start of summer, our John Masiulionis and David Newell (the beloved Mr. McFeely from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) have a special message for our friends and neighbors this holiday weekend who may need a friendly reminder to slow down, check in on the people they love, and remember that mental health matters in every season of life. 🌅

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re honored to return to Point Park University's Center for Media Innovation at Point Park University for the second (and final) installment of the 5-Year Anniversary Celebration of PR From The Heart's Neighborly Reviews Bookcast—where we’ll be spotlighting two standout stories that are helping children and families navigate the often-unspoken emotional realities of autism and anxiety. 🧩🫶🧠

John and David will be delivering heartfelt reviews of Dr. Suzy Gray’s Lily and the Fairy Cake: A Story for Autism Spectrum Disorder and Teddy the Bear: A Story for Anxiety (published by Miriam Laundry), before sitting down with Dr. Suzy to share her inspiring journey and how she’s using storytelling to foster understanding, reassurance, self-acceptance, and hope in the hearts of our little ones—plus much more. 🧚📚🧸

Children don’t just learn from the lessons adults teach them—they learn from the lives they witness, the courage they recognize, and the people who choose to follow their heart even when the road ahead feels impossible. 🫶🛣️🫶🏿

And in a world where so many kids are still searching for who they’re meant to become, the stories that leave the greatest mark are often the ones that remind them true success isn’t defined only by accomplishment—but by the compassion, integrity, and heart they choose to lead with along the way. 💖

And so, one celebrated writer is bringing to life the extraordinary legacy of a medical pioneer to remind young readers that compassion, conviction, and the determination to remain true to who they are can shape a future that changes lives for generations. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🙏🏿👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

Award-Winning Children's Author, Joan Schoettler, joins our John Masiulionis and Little Forrest on Episode #272 of PR From The Heart's Children’s Books Spotlight Series to share her inspiring journey from the classrooms of California State University to becoming a creative catalyst in the world of children's literature, the release of her new book, A Doctor at Heart: The Story of Groundbreaking Scientist and Teacher Vivien Thomas (published by SimonKIDS/Beach Lane Books), how Vivien’s extraordinary perseverance, brilliance, and unwavering dedication to learning helped reshape the future of medicine while breaking through racial and systemic barriers for generations to come, why children need stories that remind them their dreams remain possible even in the face of adversity and discrimination, and the life-changing impact of compassionate mentors—plus much more. 💗

We encourage all of you, our friends and neighbors, to subscribe to our official YouTube channel and enjoy John and Joan's heartfelt conversation—the next trolley stop of PR From The Heart's Spring season: https://bit.ly/4uJ6llP. 🚋

A child searching for a favorite thing ends up uncovering something far more meaningful: life isn’t defined by one perfect answer—it’s shaped by the countless small moments that quietly become the memories we carry forever. ✨📸✨

And as parents and caregivers guiding them, we have the chance to help children recognize that joy is already all around us—woven into the familiar routines, comforting experiences, and shared connections that make life unforgettable. 👪🏻💫👪🏿

Now, with the start of summer nearly upon us, one inspiring voice is encouraging families to make a powerful shift: stop teaching kids to chase happiness—and start showing them how to recognize the meaning, beauty, and magic already unfolding right in front of them. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🌅👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

Please join us in welcoming Children’s Author, Reading With Gidget, as the newest member of the PR From The Heart family. 🤗

Jennifer, affectionately known as “Gidget,” is a debut children’s book author with a larger-than-life imagination and a heart devoted to young readers. A former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and self-proclaimed “secret squirrel” (though she can’t say much more than that), Jennifer drew inspiration from the magical bedtime stories her mother created years ago to craft a world of wonder all her own. At the heart of Jennifer’s work is a simple but powerful belief: children understand love best through the everyday experiences that consistently make them feel comforted, connected, and cared for. 🫶

Through the pages of Jennifer’s new children’s book, Orange's Favorite Things (published by Miriam Laundry), one curious little girl sets out to answer one simple question: what’s her favorite thing? But with every joyful discovery—from warm pancakes and bike rides to laughter with friends and quiet time with loved ones—the answer keeps transforming. And that’s where the magic begins... 🌠

Filled with warmth, wonder, and playful charm, this heartwarming story invites families to slow down, treasure the experiences unfolding around them, and discover that fulfillment isn’t found in one perfect answer—it’s built through the love, connection, and simple joys that make childhood so unforgettable. 🧡

We encourage all of you—our friends and neighbors—to support Jennifer's work by getting your copies of Orange's Favorite Things via her official website (www.ReadingWithGidget.com) or Amazon.com: https://bit.ly/4wHqytm. 📲📖💻

As children grow, it’s often the quiet moments shared between parent and child—the reassuring words, the steady presence, the feeling of being truly seen—that leave the deepest imprint on who they become. 👪🏻🌠👪🏿

In a world that moves quickly, those lasting bonds help shape how children learn to build connection, trust, empathy, and resilience throughout their lives. 🫶🏻🌍🫶🏿

From life’s first steps to its biggest milestones, one special story is delivering a heartfelt reminder that unconditional love endures through every season. 💞

Our John Masiulionis sits down with Chelsea Lovell on News 4 WIVB Buffalo's Daytime Buffalo for the highly anticipated return of PR From The Heart's Empowering Reads for Kids to spotlight Holly Folgia Author's debut children's book, I Hope You Know (published by Palmetto Publishing). 🍂📖📺

Before smartphones, streaming platforms, and social media transformed the way children experience childhood, there was an affirming voice reminding generations of families that reading together could create moments of comfort, connection, curiosity, and wonder that kids would carry with them for a lifetime. 👪🏻📖👪🏿

Fred Rogers was a passionate believer in the power of children’s literacy—and throughout the history of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, that message revealed itself in unforgettable ways. From welcoming LeVar Burton of Reading Rainbow into the Neighborhood to special moments shared with acclaimed children’s author and illustrator Eric Carle, these weren’t just television appearances—they were meaningful reminders that stories have the power to nurture imagination, spark empathy, and help children better understand themselves and the world around them. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🚋👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

That enduring spirit of kindness, discovery, and literacy—inspired by our favorite neighbor—is the heartbeat of a landmark celebration. 💗

Our John Masiulionis and David Newell (who played the beloved Mr. McFeely on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood) sit down with Elena LaQuatra WTAE on WTAE-TV Pittsburgh's 4 The Record for the first of a special two-part conversation exploring the history and evolution of PR From The Heart's Neighborly Reviews Bookcast, Mister Rogers' profound impact on the world of children's literature and the Bookcast itself, plus a look inside the 5-Year Anniversary Celebration of The Neighborly Reviews Bookcast (featuring Sprouting Sparks' Keys to My Heart & Garage Sale Goldmine, published by Bear With Us Productions & Miriam Laundry, and Dr. Suzy Gray's Lily and the Fairy Cake: A Story for Autism Spectrum Disorder & Teddy the Bear: A Story for Anxiety, published by Miriam Laundry), along with a sneak preview of the Bookcast's Summer Reading Season (featuring rdschildrensbooks' newest release, Esmeralda and the Lollipop Tree, published by Miriam Laundry)—plus much more. 💫📚📺

For shelter animals, finding comfort, connection, and a place where they feel loved can change everything—and our children need those same reminders, too. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🐶👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

This Back-to-School season, one young trailblazer is turning that message into a powerful conversation about compassion, belonging, and how even the smallest acts of kindness can change a life forever. 🌠

We're honored to announce that 12-Year-Old Children's Author & Philanthropist, Amelie Anastasia, will be joining us as one of the featured authors and panelists at PR From The Heart's Building A Culture Of Reading In Your Classroom 2026 (presented in partnership with SMART Reading)—taking place on Saturday, August 8th at Barnes & Noble. 🤗

Amelie will be sharing her highly anticipated new children's book, Shelter Dogs (illustrated by Shafer Stedron | published by Little House of Dreams Publishing), as part of the event's morning session (beginning at 11AM PT)—featuring storytelling, meaningful moments, and special book signings for children and families. 👪🏻📖👪🏿

Plus, Amelie will be an integral part of our interactive author panel (beginning at 2PM PT), where she’ll discuss how today’s youth can embrace the power of their voices and share their stories with the world, how reading with pets helps strengthen kids' literacy skills and self-confidence, and how giving back can inspire the next generation—plus much more! ✨

For our friends and neighbors in Portland: Bring your questions, meet Amelie in person, and get your copies of Shelter Dogs personally signed. Proceeds from Shelter Dogs will be donated to animal shelters across the country. 🐾✍🏻🐾

05/15/2026

Being strong doesn’t mean carrying the weight of the world alone. Yet every single day, countless children quietly wrestle with pressure, anxiety, friendships, school expectations, and overwhelming emotions because they’ve been taught—directly or indirectly—that asking for help is a sign of weakness instead of wisdom. 😔

When we begin teaching children that reaching out is something courageous people do early—not something reserved for moments of complete overwhelm or breaking points—everything changes. Kids begin to understand that support is not a burden, a favor, or something to feel ashamed of. It becomes a source of strength, connection, belonging, and healing. ✨🫶🏻✨

And so, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, one creative storyteller is helping redefine what bravery looks like for the next generation—not the child who silently carries everything alone, but the child who learns how to ask for help, accept support, and uplift others along the way. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🫱🏻‍🫲🏽👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

Children's Author, Emily Sun Li, joins our John Masiulionis and Little Forrest on Episode #271 of PR From The Heart's Children’s Books Spotlight Series to share her inspiring journey from voracious reader to respected educator and ray of hope within the KidLit community, the release of her debut picture book, Mr. Chow’s Night Market (published by Penguin Kids), why vulnerability is a form of strength—not weakness, how to turn relentless rejection into creative fuel, the power of personifying places to encourage children to see themselves and the world around them differently, practical ways parents and educators can empower kids to ask for help without shame, and a sneak peek at her next chapter book, Disney's Lilo & Stitch: Into the Volcano (published by Scholastic)—plus much more. 🌃

In the quiet spaces where childhood meets challenge, one thing still holds steady. ✨

A story. 📖

When the world feels unfamiliar, when emotions feel too big to name, when families are navigating more than any child should have to understand—stories don’t just fill silence. They bring it into focus. They soften the edges. 🫶

For children. For parents. For families in the middle of uncertainty. 👪🏻🙏🏻👪🏿

Stories become connection when words fall short. 🫂

Some open the door to understanding the world ahead—building early confidence around choice, value, and responsibility in simple, human ways. 🔑

Others help children move through the world they’re already in—offering comfort in grief, clarity in loss, and the reminder that love doesn’t disappear. ❤️‍🩹

Different stories. One purpose. To help children feel less alone in what they’re learning—and what they’re carrying. 💛

As part of the 5-Year Anniversary Celebration of PR From The Heart's Neighborly Reviews Bookcast and our recent trolley stop in Pittsburgh, our John Masiulionis had the opportunity to visit UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and donate copies of Sprouting Sparks' award-winning FinTale$ series (Keys to My Heart, published by Bear With Us Productions, and Garage Sale Goldmine, published by Miriam Laundry), along with his award-winning children's book, Walking Each Other Home–Zachary’s Mission: A Hospice for Children (illustrated by Roksana Barwinska Illustrations | published by Trolley Stop Publishing), to the hospital's Adopt-A-Book program—placing these resources of care directly into the hands of children and families who need them most. 🏥

Because sometimes, everything begins the same way—with a story finding its way in. 💫📚💫

We encourage all of you, our friends and neighbors, to subscribe to our official YouTube channel and enjoy the first installment of The Neighborly Reviews Bookcast 5-Year Anniversary Celebration—co-hosted by our John Masiulionis and David Newell (who played the beloved Mr. McFeely on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood)—featuring heartfelt reviews of Sprouting Sparks' Keys to My Heart and Garage Sale Goldmine and our exclusive sit-down interview with Shireeen Eddleblute, creator of the FinTale$ series—the next trolley stop of PR From The Heart’s Spring season: https://bit.ly/4tnYnxA. 🚋

05/10/2026

Love is often shaped not by grand gestures, but by the quiet ways a child is seen, held, and understood in everyday life. When families learn to speak with presence and listen without rushing past emotion, they create something lasting—a foundation that carries children through change, growth, and time. 💗

And so, as we honor Mother’s Day, we come together to celebrate a mother, a daughter, and an affirming voice guiding families back to the bonds that shape us—the foundation of how children learn to love and be loved. 💐

Please join us in welcoming Children’s Book Author, Co-Founder of The Rooted Foundation, & Cancer Thriver, Holly Folgia Author, as the newest member of the PR From The Heart family. 🤗

A graduate of Villanova University and the Rutgers University School of Social Work, Holly built much of her career in early intervention—helping young children build the foundation to thrive. But her story extends far beyond her professional path. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🎓👧🏻👧🏽

After her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Holly received her own diagnosis just months later. In the midst of that challenging chapter, her husband discovered a manuscript she had written—becoming the spark for something far greater. What followed was more than a book; it became a mission-driven movement rooted in resilience, hope, and the commitment to help others find light in their most difficult moments. 🙏

Inspired by the bond she shares with her two sons, Peter and Matthew, Holly's debut children’s book, I Hope You Know (published by Palmetto Publishing), is a quiet exchange between mother and son—where a single phrase resonates over time, revealing that love is never fixed in a moment, but continually shaped in motion. 📖

At its core, this heartfelt story holds a simple truth: connection is not a moment you arrive at—it’s something you return to. A rhythm of presence, language, and care that quietly shapes who a child becomes, and stays with them long after the moment has passed. 🫶

We encourage all of you—our friends and neighbors—to support Holly by getting your copies of I Hope You Know through The Rooted Foundation’s official website (www.RootedFoundationNJ.org), Amazon.com, and Barnes & Noble. Proceeds will benefit The Rooted Foundation—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing ovarian and fallopian tube cancer research, education, and early detection: https://bit.ly/4demRm3. 📲📖💻

Autism Acceptance Month is shining a light on a conversation that extends far beyond awareness—it’s about understanding, inclusion, and the everyday moments that shape how children see one another. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻💡👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

Across homes and classrooms nationwide, there is a growing focus on helping children not only recognize differences, but embrace them—understanding that every child experiences the world in their own way, and that those differences deserve both respect and celebration. ✨🌎✨

As we honor this important month here at PR From The Heart, one special story is helping bring that message to life, gently guiding kids toward deeper understanding while opening the door to something even more powerful—compassion. 💙

Children's Author, Dr. Suzy Gray, joins Rick Bentley on KGET - TV 17 Bakersfield's Studio 17 Live to share how we can rewrite the conversation around autism for kids and the release of her new children's book, Lily and the Fairy Cake: A Story for Autism Spectrum Disorder (published by Miriam Laundry)—plus much more. 🧚🏻‍♀️📖📺
