Color is a massive aspect of branding.

Did you know that 85 percent of shoppers base their product purchasing decisions on color?

I think now we can all agree that choosing the right color palette for your website is incredibly important.

How to choose the right ones?

1. Understand how color affects emotion

2. Consider your overall demographic, gender, and age group

3. Let go of your biases!

4. Decide on how many colors to use

5. Choose your set of colors

You see, done!

You don’t need to be a world-renown artist to come up with a workable website color scheme.

It’s just a matter of understanding the psychology behind color and the emotions that various colors conjure up.

We already know that the content of your website is the most valuable part for your visitors.

But how do you make it stand out from all the other websites?

We give you a Tip for a Website Layout - Part 2!

Let’s have a look at a Split Screen Layout!

A Split Screen web layout is perfect for a page that has two main pieces of content of equal importance.

Split screen layouts are perfect when your site offers two drastically different variations of the user journey.

What to be aware of when using this type of layout?

Avoid using too much content in split sections.

Consider adding UX animation to create a more dynamic experience.

Let’s have a look at this common myth in the online world that people go to your webpage to read. That is not true!

Did you know that less than 20% of the text content is actually read on an average Web page?

People only read word-by-word on the web when they are really interested in the content. So first of all focus on having the content, they are looking for.

Usually, they just scan the pages looking for highlighted keywords, meaningful headings, and short paragraphs looking for the piece of information which is relevant to them and skipping what’s irrelevant for them.

So don’t expect people to read content that seems neither easily scannable nor relevant for them!

How to make your text scannable?

Do not have long text blocks, unnecessary instructions, promotional writing, and “Small talk”.

Get to the point!

Have you ever landed on a website, read the main message, and realized you have no idea what the company actually does?

Unfortunately, this happens a lot!

So how to get your messaging right? Try to nail your messaging with this simple tip!

Re-read your content - then ask yourself: “What is the main thing I want someone to remember from reading this?”

Usually, that results in a short answer. Use this answer to make a headline or as a shorter way to say what you mean more concisely.

Better communication of the value your business creates, and how you differ from the competition, can fully explain your business to visitors and boost conversions.

Was this helpful for your messaging strategy? Let me know if you use this tip!

Why do people REALLY visit websites? They are interested in the content of the website!

But how do we make the content stand out on the website in the most useful and intuitive way?

By choosing the right website layout!

It is not a coincidence that many of the most popular websites use similar website layouts.

Let’s have a look at one of the common site layouts - Single Column layout.

In this layout, the content is presented in a single, vertical column.

It is the simplest and the easiest layout for users to navigate through. Visitors simply scroll down to see more content.

The simplicity doesn’t make it less beneficial - on the contrary, this website layout is getting more and more popular nowadays because it is mobile friendly and fits the mobile screen very well.

This website layout is mostly used by minimalistic blog sites.

Bonus tip: When using this layout, pay attention to an easy navigation menu stuck at the top of the page. This way visitors don’t need to scroll all the way to the top to change the page.

Thinking about finding help with your web design? Let’s work together on it!

Before we start tho we need to ask very important questions in order to get YOU ready for OUR collaboration!

Do you have your brand identity all set up? If not, let's work on that first.

What is a brand identity?

Brand identity includes logos, typography, colors, packaging, and messaging, and it complements and reinforces the existing reputation of a brand.

It helps you to differentiate your business from the competition and appropriately position your brand. Developing a professional, creative identity design can help you to stand out to potential customers in your market.

Another question we need to ask - Have you developed your strategic narrative yet? If not, my website content workbook can help.

I have created a Website Content Workbook to make help you with the development of your strategic narrative. You can find the link in my Bio.

Let’s make each other’s life easier! Who wouldn’t want that?

Do you already know what exactly do you need?

Is it a logo design or your brand personality & strategic narrative?

There are fundamental differences between these two and you need to be sure of what you need before hiring someone to help you with it.

There is a general perception that “logo design” and “branding” are the same thing.

However, although they are closely related and must work together in a cohesive way, they are very different processes.

So what is what?

Logo design is the process of designing a logo.

And branding the process to build a brand, while a brand is a combination of all many aspects that represent the organization.

A brand is the idea or image people have in mind when thinking about a company.

Logo design is just one of the tools used to design the visual identity of a brand. Without the brand, the logo wouldn’t have real meaning, it would be simply a graphical element.

Do you now know the difference between logo design and branding?

Squarespace? YES from me!

Why is that? Here are my 3 reasons why I recommend using Squarespace for your business's website:

1. Squarespace makes it easy for the site owner to make edits after we’re done working together.

Save the money you would pay a web developer for constant site updates and do it yourself!

2. Squarespace has finally caught up with all the plugins for most everything you’ll want to do with your online business.

3. There are enough templates and pre-designed modules that you don’t need to write any code to make a site look good.

+ 1 bonus reason - SECURITY!

If you are still deciding between WordPress and Squarespace it is good to mention that WordPress sites are more vulnerable to being hacked and who would want that? With Squarespace, you pay a monthly fee but they provide you with a secure website and great customer support!

Your website serves you to attract new customers, partners, even investors, to send out your message to everyone who might be interested to see it.

In order to create a trustworthy relationship, your website needs to look professional.

What mistakes make your website look unprofessional?

Let´s have a look at 3 of them!

1. Having a Brochure-like website

Don´t lead visitors to your page just to read through your material. Make it interactive and use the full potential of the web medium!

Think about your website from the visitor’s point of view and what could make their experience different from just reading a brochure.

What a website can do that a brochure can’t? Use all the functions!

2. Too much content and long paragraphs

People coming to a website are not interested in reading, they just want to find information.

And fast.

Better than having long paragraphs with a lot of small text in them, form it into smaller blocks with bullet points and interesting headings.

3. Using a layout template that doesn’t make sense with the content

Make sure the template fits what you want to present.

Remember that the free default template is not always the best option for everyone!

These 3 tips will help visitors of your website have a better overall experience!

Isn’t it what we all want?
