The recent FTC settlement with Credit Karma underscores the agency's focus on A/B testing in the digital advertising world. The complaint alleges that Credit Karma used dark patterns to misrepresent consumers as "pre-approved" for credit card offers, despite data showing this would lead to clicks.

Digital marketers must be aware of the potential liability that A/B testing can expose us to and take steps to minimize the risk.
