Hey! I’m Paloma, your anti-celebrity, anti-capitalist publicist. A bit of a contradiction, but when you learn that the “father of public relations” (Edward Bernays) did the bidding of the corrupt and evil “elites” to manipulate people into their own demise and gaslight the public from the truth, you go about the field of PR differently. At least I did… because when I started this company I did it through the lens of Ethnic Studies and social justice.

A message to all the publicists out there working for government officials, celebrities, and companies that perpetuate pe******ia, sexual assault, human trafficking, exploitation, Zios, etc and didn’t know better, get the f**k out and use your skills and gifts for humanity and protecting children.

For all those that do know what they’re doing to cause and protect and uphold harm. Ya’ll gonna 🔥 eventually too.

In 2009 I quit my office job to start a PR agency that supports arts activists and orgs/biz that are rooted in social justice work, instead of pursuing a Hollywood version of Public Relations. I knew that world was something I didn’t want to be part of… 16 years later I’m still here with my soul in tact and living a beautiful life.

My message to you all out there, decolonize, understand your purpose, tap into your passion, know your role in the movement, boycott companies that have been identified as harmful, and invest in your community.

There’s more to say, but I’ll start there. Love to the ancestors and angels for protecting me 💗🙏🏽✊🏽

🎉 PapaLoDown Agency turns 15!!! 🎉 We’re so humbled and grateful to all of our clients, partners, and community in trusting us to do this work in amplifying and documenting our stories in the media for this long. We truly love you all and inspired by your work in social justice, the arts, entrepreneurship, and education.

The first photo is me holding a red stapler that I took from my office job in San Francisco’s financial district, as a parting gift to myself, when I quit to start this business in September 2009.

I was nervous about taking this step, there were no business coaches to talk to (that looked like me) at the time, but honestly I was just so driven and as much as I bet on myself, I bet on my community 💯 that this is what I needed to do, this was my role in the movement.

The second photo is me and educator/organizer Artnelson Concordia circa 2009. At the time we were less than a year into our relationship. He was my first “investor” in the business. Not only did he support me emotionally, but financially too. He also happened to be starting his journey with ethnic studies in the classroom at this same time. So I got to learn about ethnic studies (which I never did in school) as I was building PapaLoDown Agency, and it has informed why we do this work and how we do it. We’ve now been married for 12 years… so thank you Artnelson for believing in me and inspiring me, let’s keep growing! 💗😭✊🏽

‼️Client spotlight‼️ Artnelson Concordia has been an educator for over 20 years in California public schools with a significant part of his career in San Francisco Unified School District. He is currently an Ethnic Studies Coordinator at Santa Barbara Unified School District and pursuing his Doctorate in Education at UCLA. He’s also a longtime organizer in the Filipino community (more on that history for another post, IYKYK!)

PapaLoDown Agency was birthed out of a purpose to use PR as activism. It was my first “baby” and here we are almost 15 years later! Since then I became a step mom, and birthed 3 kids in less than two years, two of them identical twins!

Being an entrepreneur has given me the freedom to be the mom I want to be for my kids, for myself and my community.

This year for Mother’s Day I want you to think of all the Mother’s in Gaza and the Mother’s incarcerated in the United States and give what you can to help ease a little bit of suffering.

Thanks to I found a family in need and donated to help them with their evacuation. I also donated to the organization for Black mothers to be bailed out on Mother’s Day and spend some time with their families.

There is so much pain in the world right now, and every small action matters. Be the change, all children are our children. Solidarity forever! 💗💐
