Making magic for families ✨

Congratulations to on raising an incredible $730,000! It was inspiring to see yet another year of this wonderful community come together in support of families experiencing homelessness.

The energy in the room was a reminder of what’s possible when we all come together, and we were honored to be a part of the magic.

Robert Redford was one of the most inspired people we’ve ever worked with.
It was shockingly easy to forget he was a celebrity in his presence.

This is an old photo from the archives of Robert with a pair of Toms gifted from Tom himself. They were a symbol of a company with a purpose that transcended profit—an idea he was deeply on board with.

The world lost a really good one this week.

An age-old wish is for someone to document Stanlee Gatti’s warehouse; there is something about viewing the breadth of materials he and his team have amassed over the years that boggles the mind. It’s a sort of “room of requirement” for events: yards of fabrics, candles of every color, glassware, ceramics, cushions, centerpieces, art installations, and custom-built furniture. Not to mention the floral design studio that lives in Stanlee’s main studio area, usually exploding with florals in various states of preparation for whatever event is coming next. Here are just a few moments from Stanlee’s vast library.

Stanlee Gatti, event planner extraordinaire, has entrusted Elixir with the design of event collateral for numerous galas and events over the years—including Tipping Point Community, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, The Asian Art Museum, SFMOMA, Arion Press, and Daniel Lurie’s Inauguration. We also had the joy of creating materials for Stanlee’s jewel box of a grocery store, Meraki Market. So when Stanlee asked us to create his new website, we were thrilled to have a rare window into the archives of all of his events over the years that defy imagination.

What began as an invitation project for a fledgling non-profit that was fighting poverty in San Francisco evolved into a relationship spanning 17 years.

Tipping Point’s original logo had been a domino: a "T" with a dot… which kinda worked conceptually, and kinda didn’t. Do we all want to fall over to create a chain reaction? The essential thing was to convey a community of individuals coming together to create a tipping point. Elixir took the dot, made it into a green lapel pin, and became part of its visual language ever since. Swipe to the end to see where it all started.

Jen Pitts (a long-time collaborator of Elixir’s) is all about the story, spoken in words – received by ears. This translates to speeches, to paper, to screens. She’s adept at asking questions, listening, and deciding which strings of ideas and words stay or fall away. In this way, the word “writer” is not quite right. Righter is more like it. 🔥

This year, she needed a new website for her company, Matchstick Communications, and we were of course thrilled to help. For the visual centerpiece, we zeroed in on the painting that sits behind her on many a Zoom call, and is very Jen Pitts in its own specific way…by San Francisco artist , it was part of a fundraising auction Matchstick helped put together during the height of the pandemic in 2020.

We animated a match pulled from the painting, and staged a portrait to match (photos by )Go check out her work (matchsticksf.com). We are so very proud to have her in our corner.
