I have come across someone who constantly talking about the lack of money and all that. So I asked, how many pack does he smoke a day, he said 1/2 a pack to 1 pack. I was extremely surprised that the amount of hard-earned money wasted daily on something that would deteriorate your health everyday. So with that in mind, I have built myself a spreadsheet to prove my point...

Over the years and price of a pack of Ci******es has raise dramatically from $0.25 per pack to around $6.20 per pack, around 4.8% increase per year. So here are my assumption on my calculations:

- Smoker smokes 1/2 pack per day.
- Price per pack: $6.20
- Current Age: 30
- Retirement Age: 65
- Rate of Return on Investment: 4%/yr
- Inflation Rate on ci******es: 2%/yr (assuming tax will not be increase as dramatically than the past... simply picked a number here...)
Result: $112,500 saved at retirement age of 65.

If getting healthier is not a convinced reason to quit smoking, then maybe saving more for retirement might do the trick...
