As someone who's work heavily relies on the brilliance of technology, I know just how easy it is to become over reliant on the digital world.

Lately, Iโ€™ve been reflecting a lot on what it truly means to be a conscious leader. I often feel like Iโ€™m repeating myself (we all know what they say about that!), but sometimes those repeated messages are the ones that need to be heard the most. Burnout has become a harsh reality for businesses across the board, but for non-profit organizations, itโ€™s a growing crisis. Conscious leadership offers a way outโ€”it's a recalibration that reignites our passion, reshapes whatโ€™s possible, and sets the stage for lasting impact.

In my latest blog post, I dive into how embracing self-awareness, empathy, and genuine connection can not only transform individual leaders but entire organizations. Conscious leadership is more than just a trendy term; itโ€™s a call to action for all of us who are dedicated to creating meaningful change without compromising our well-being or purpose.

As 2024 comes to a close, Iโ€™m reflecting on an incredible year for my small, but mighty consulting firm and the personal journey that has shaped me as a leader. Yesterday, I stepped into the iconic role of Elphaba from the musical ๐–๐ข๐œ๐ค๐ž๐ โ€” painted in green, embodying a character who has inspired countless with her courage, authenticity, and resilience. It reminded me of the parallels between her story and the qualities of authentic leadership.

Elphaba teaches us that true leadership means standing firm in our values, even when the world tries to paint us as โ€œwickedโ€ for doing so. Her journey is one of embracing her uniqueness, leading with heart, and taking bold action despite opposition. As I took on her role, I felt a deep connection to her story and its alignment with the principles I strive to embody and instill in others: integrity, compassion, and authenticity. (Call me a sucker for a good musical, but you must admit that the storyline is pretty good.)

๐‘ซ๐’Š๐’… ๐’š๐’๐’– ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’˜ that nature can have a profound effect on your mental and emotional capacity, resulting in an increased sense of overall well-being, focus and confidence? ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ

In 1984, sociobiologist, Edward Wilson suggested humans have an innate desire to affiliate with their natural environment, benefiting psychologically from exposure to natural settings.

One theory - attention restoration theory โ€“ suggests that we as humans, can only direct our attention for limited amounts of time before becoming mentally fatigued. Nature helps to restore this limited capacity and allows us to recalibrate our thoughts, immersing ourselves in alternative surroundings.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of seeing this theory in action. Working with leaders in natural environments has yielded tremendous results for clients who have sought to transform their mindsets, relieve stress and anxiety and build confidence to show up as their authentic self.

This late summer I am excited to share the return of my in-person Group Coaching experience, Pathways to Leadership: Coaching in Nature.

By integrating the natural environment with cutting-edge leadership development techniques, this program offers a unique and holistic approach to executive coaching. This is one of my most favorite coaching experiences!

This 12-week, in-person experience will be facilitated in San Mateo, CA and Oakland, CA.
