Good Morning ladies and gents. Two days ago, I showed you the Helena-Class MK1 & MK2. Today, I give you the Helena-Class MK3.
To make this version, I basically took the model of the MK2 and refitted her. (instead of making a completely new model). I put grooves in the saucers edge (instead of just changing the color), I completely remade the neck, more round and streamlined, along with adding bits to the aft section to make it thicker. Due to the shape of the ventral section of the saucer, I moved those phaser emitters more towards the center of the saucer to have better angle when firing at a zero elevation.
Speaking of weapons, she already had 6 dual phaser emitters along with 2 single aft emitters. I've added 4 more single emitters to the ventral section of the secondary hull (2 aft, 2 fore). She also had 3 torpedo launchers (2 fore, 1 aft). For these, I was going to make a module that would house the launcher and add it to the neck, but the problem was the ventral part of the saucer along with the planetary sensor was in the way in firing. So I added the launchers to the leading edge of the secondary hull instead. I've added straight-on images that show the clearance of the launchers. The aft launcher is housed in an added section of the neck.
The shuttlebay was cut out to align more with the TMP aesthetic, along with making a larger clam-shell door.
The added bit on the dorsal part of the saucer (with the windows) was actually added because I finally was able to make the bridge module more accurate than my previous attempts. But due to the size, I had to have the saucer "reach up" to it. So I just made another section and added a row of windows. Maybe a lounge or a conference section.
For the deflector, I just removed some of the extra bits and made a new module. I made some side panels for that section and just smoothed them out a bit.
The impulse engine was suppose to be a different design, but I ended up making the TMP design but forgot to slant the engines. So they're just straight up and down, but larger.
