Please join me in celebrating the Grand Opening of BridanyCakes Colombian Bakery @ 103 Wicker Street, Sanford, NC 27330 on Friday, March 31st at 3:30PM! BridanyCakes Colombian Bakery offers traditional Colombian specialities like empanadas, various pastries/baked goods, artistic cakes for special occasions, and also offers custom orders to suit any need. BridanyCakes is owned and operated by Juana Maite Vargas-Bornschein, who is a wonderful artist, baker, and above all, an amazing human being that I am proud to be able to call my friend. There is a gigantic backstory below about how I met Juanita, became friends with her, and came to have the privilege to be included in her Grand Opening event.
We would love to see you there on Friday, March 31st @ 3:30 PM, but if that does not work for your schedule, BridanyCakes is currently open Tuesday - Saturday from 10 AM - 7 PM. Thank you!

A few months ago, I ran into a fabulous woman named Juanita in the grocery store who complemented my outfit & made me feel so good about myself in such a way that it completely turned my day around. I went home and immediately told my husband about this complete stranger who was so sweet to me.
In a seemingly unrelated series of events, my husband started "scouting out" a new bakery that had opened in Downtown Sanford. It was a Columbian Bakery; from what he said, it seemed very similar to the bakeries back home in Hudson County / on Bergenline. Long story short, he & his brother made friends with the owner & her mother, without knowing this was the same woman I ran into in town. He asked me to go by the bakery to grab some empanadas, which we had quickly become OBSESSED with because of how delicious and authentic they were--and the amazingly low price was an added bonus!
I walked in and Juanita (the owner) recognized me immediately from the grocery store. She also somehow knew who I was married to without ever seeing us together, which I guess says something about us 😅 But we started talking more and realized we were both artists, graphic designers, and honestly just interested/passionate about the same things. Needless to say we hit it off quickly; Juanita invited my husband and I for cake & coffee the following day.
This was not just some ordinary cake she was offering us to come share though. This was TORTA NEGRA COLOMBIANA. The traditional Colombian Black Cake popular for weddings, quinceañeras, Christmas, and other celebrations. From what I gather, there are many different recipes according to different families / regions, etc., but they are made with fruits, port wine, and other decadent ingredients in homage to the important events being celebrated.
I cannot even describe to you how delicious this cake was. I was absolutely blown away by not only Juanita's artistry with cakes, pastries, and other baked goods, but her general creativity, kindness, generosity, and just overall wonderful, glowing personality. All of that came across in this cake she shared with us, and all of the other food we continue to order from her multiple times a week. We have turned the whole family on to her food; everyone in my husband's Cuban family has been searching for a little slice of 'home'--that being up North in Hudson County, where they resided since the 70's after coming from Cuba until just recently. Needless to say, we are extremely grateful to have found Juanita.
Since meeting her, we have ordered empanadas in massive amounts, for birthdays, family events, etc...and by 'we' I mean my husband, his brother, their dad, their uncle, and so-on. Her food is so deliciously addicting and her personality and generosity makes you want to keep coming back.
On top of that, Juanita has become one of my closest friends & most solid business associates. She has not only consistently promoted my business to her own customers and provided me multiple leads for clients and business connections--without asking for anything in return nor me even having to ask her to do so; she is just doing it out of the kindness of her heart & belief in my skills.
I am overjoyed to be able to not only create the promotional images for her Grand Opening Event but also to be invited to participate & promote my own brand. Please come and check out BridanyCakes Colombian Bakery on Friday, March 31st from 3:30-5:00PM for the promotional events listed below. She is currently already open though Tuesday - Saturday from 10 AM - 7 PM @ 103 Wicker Street, Sanford, NC 27330 if you can't make it on the 31st but would like to try her food anyway!
