"Can I just delete negative reviews?" 🤔

We get this question at least 3x a week from contractors.

The short answer: Sometimes, but probably not.

Google will ONLY remove reviews that violate their policies:
✅ Fake reviews from non-customers
✅ Reviews from competitors or employees
✅ Reviews with profanity or hate speech
✅ Reviews that share personal information

Google will NOT remove:
❌ One-star reviews with no text
❌ Reviews you simply disagree with
❌ Negative opinions from real customers

Here's what actually works:

Option 1: Report policy violations through your Business Profile (takes 3-7 days)

Option 2: Respond professionally and bury it with positive reviews (works immediately)

Option 3: Contact the customer privately and resolve the issue (50% will update/remove)

The truth? Most contractors obsess over removing 1-2 bad reviews when they should be generating 50+ good ones.

A single 1-star review among 100 five-star reviews barely moves your rating. But that same review with only 5 total reviews? That's a problem.
