AskKirkLockhartAbout Minnie Riperton an American singer-songwriter widely celebrated for her flawless, multi-octave vocal range and soaring whistle-register. Her most iconic track is "Lovin' You" (1974), a global chart-topper and lullaby written for her daughter, the entertainer Maya Rudolph. While "Lovin' You" remains her signature song, her catalog spans everything from lush, orchestral psychedelic soul to smooth R&B and jazz. Her essential songs, ranging from solo hits to early collaborations with the group Rotary Connection, are outlined below:Signature Solo Hits"Lovin' You": From the Perfect Angel album, this breezy, acoustic-driven track is famous for its birdsong and Minnie's stratospheric high notes."Inside My Love": A sensual, slow-burning quiet storm R&B groove. It has since become a legendary hip-hop and R&B sample, utilized by artists like Tupac and A Tribe Called Quest."Memory Lane": An emotional, jazz-infused torch song from her final studio album, Minnie."Perfect Angel": The upbeat, sun-dappled title track of her 1974 album, co-produced and written by her close collaborator Stevie Wonder."Reasons": A funky, jazzy autobiographical track where Minnie fluidly transitions from scats to her iconic whistle tone. The Psychedelic & Orchestral Era"Les Fleurs": The sweeping, flower-power opening track from her 1970 solo debut album, Come to My Garden. Produced by Charles Stepney, it is a magnificent orchestral-pop masterpiece."Whenever, Wherever": The grandiose, staccato-laced closer to Come to My Garden, blending complex prog-jazz structures with lush soul.Rotary Connection (with Minnie Riperton)Before launching her legendary solo career, Minnie served as the lead vocalist for the experimental psychedelic-soul group Rotary Connection."I Am the Black Gold of the Sun": A funkadelic afro-mystical epic from the Hey, Love album that heavily features her ethereal backing vocals."Respect": A sultry, radically altered acid-rock cover of the Otis Redding (and later Aretha Franklin) classic, featuring Minnie on lead vocals.🎶🎼🎵🎤

Did the US ever apologize for Japanese internment camps?
In 1988, Congress passed, and President Reagan signed, Public Law 100-383 – the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 – that acknowledged the injustice of "internment," apologized for it, and provided a $20,000 cash payment to each person who was incarcerated.

AskKirkLockhartAbout Who was 😮:The Unknown Comic 🙈the famous stage persona of Canadian-American comedian and actor Murray Langston. He became a pop culture icon in the 1970s by performing stand-up comedy and corny one-liners on The Gong Show while wearing a plaid jacket, white bucks, and a brown paper grocery bag with cut-out eyeholes over his head. How the Persona BeganBefore adopting the persona, Langston was an established comedic actor who regularly appeared on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. However, after investing heavily in a nightclub that ultimately failed, he found himself broke and in desperate need of work.Langston's agent booked him for a $350 spot on The Gong Show—a variety series notorious for purposefully bad amateur acts. Unwilling to ruin his existing showbiz credibility by appearing on such a show, he grabbed a paper bag and created "The Unknown Comic". The anonymity completely liberated him, and the act became a massive, surprise hit, leading to over 150 appearances on the show and a successful career as a Las Vegas headliner.
