How to Easily Lower Your CAC/CPL By Digging Into Your Past Winners

(you don't need to have new stuff to beat your competitors)

A few months ago a brand came to me looking for consulting on their Google Ads to improve their efficiency on leads ~ while focusing on landing whale clients at scale

(which is easier than people think by the way, this stuff is simple when you know what to do)

But anyways…

Initial results were good, we attacked the 1st position to see if paying more per click would be the key to getting higher-quality leads

It worked

But a new problem soon came up

…a completely new website with a new lead form + other action points on the website

From a straightforward website with 1 main conversion goal to now a more “well-designed” website with a multitude of conversions a user could take

CPL immediately jumped by over +50%...

and week after week it kept increasing

(following my Ads Vortex strategy we pivoted and created new account structures)

So we tested new strategies week after week to try and save the CVR

1. Main offer only
2. All offers
3. Higher in the Funnel
4. Competitor targeting
5. etc

(In hindsight this isn’t the best to switch week over week but the lack of leads was causing pressure to build without any end in sight)

So without any ads strategy working, I dove into the metrics

looking at different time periods over the years...

trying to find the missing piece of profitability through paid ads

the missing piece?

Conversion Rate tanked

and I don’t mean just a little slip…

I’m talking about going from 2%-2.5% down to Leads: +500%
> CPL: -87% (-$1800)

what about CVR?

Our CVR went from 0.27% to 1.97%

+618% nearly overnight

(and it’s still cold traffic)

So what’s the lesson here?

Don’t ever be afraid to test, but don’t forget you can always revert back to your historical winners if you are unsuccessful

but how to do this today?

How can you extrapolate this to your account(s)?

If your CPL or CAC is in a worse position right now than LAST YEAR

Run through this list:

1. Compare Metrics (short/long time frames)
> What jumps out to you?
> What were you doing strategy-wise in Google vs. other channels for the results you had?

2. Look at the competition in both time frames
> Did you have more market share than now?

3. Were you the top dog in 1st position vs not anymore?

4. Are you in your season?

5. What is going on in your TAM that affects you?

6. Is Conversion tracking appropriately done?

After doing this, you should have found one of two things to do:
1. Easy optimizations to make to the current campaign(s)
2. Old strategy/targeting to test in the present (revert back to past winners)

Most brands bottleneck profits with an overreliance on Facebook

They don’t realize Facebook is a closed system

Google is effectively the WHOLE internet

And it’s how I’ve generated $1.5m in revenue in the last 14 days

This thread will change your eComm brand’s modus operandi

Social media marketing may seem attractive for short-term profit

But after spending millions on ads, I’ve realized that…

Google is KING

This became abundantly clear when…

I separated from the Navy & turned my data-driven brain to online advertising

I was told Facebook & Amazon were the places for eComm brands

But after realizing ½ the internet uses Google

I decided to ditch shiny object syndrome & delve into the data

The reality shocked me…

There are as many people searching daily on Google

As there are on the top 7 social media platforms combined in a month

105,000,000,000 searches are performed EVERY SINGLE MONTH

that's 3.5 BILLION searches per DAY

It’s criminal that Google is not THE focus for eComm brands & marketers

And it’s not just search where Google comes out on top…

You’re also putting yourself at a disadvantage by neglecting the power of Google Analytics

This is EXACTLY why I created the Ecosystem Vortex

A mechanism that goes beyond retargeting & layers MASSIVE amounts of data over traditional eComm strategies

Think of it like this…

The Typical Ads Funnel is a shotgun

Scatter & wasted potential. Ineffective at range. VERY messy.

The Ecosystem Vortex is a Magnetic Drone.

Panoramic view of EVERYTHING. Targets (new and old) are pulled to you. Thanks to tracking, you never lose a prospect.

The Ecosystem Vortex tracks…
* Online searches
* Sites visited
* Travel
* Lifestyle
* Emails subscribed to
* Who they talk to
* What their friends and family do & like
* Entertainment preferences
* App usage

Scaling on Google has NEVER been easier in the history of the platform

And to prove it - here are 2 models that you can steal RIGHT NOW

(models that in the past 30 days added $125,000 in revenue for a client)

>Don't need huge brand awareness
>No weekly time commitment

THREAD

2 Plug-n-Play PPC Models to Add $100k+ in Revenue right now

1. High Yield Strategy Model
2. Moments of Success Model

Using these 2 models is exactly how I added $253,000 in revenue for one of my eComm DFY brands (apparel niche) in 60 days

Use them to your advantage and scale

7 Figure Model #1: The High Yield Strategy Model

All of the DFY and Consulting brands I serve operate from my Vortex model when a strategy is created

Why have I developed a model and not just winged it?

This High Yield Strategy Model needs to have a repeatable process that both:

1. allows the highest chance of success on a repeatable level

2. is customizable to mold & fit into each of the different industries and ad spend levels

This model gives you BOTH of those things

So what is this High Yield Strategy Model?

It's my Ecosystem Vortex Model

(a Repeatable Strategy To Set Yourself Up For PPC Success)

There are 4 layers in this vortex

1. Growth
2. Nurture
3. Capture & Protection
4. Profit Expansion

Here is your Plug-n-Play Vortex Model to Print @ Scale

1/4: Growth
• Shopping Focused First (Standard or PMAX)
• Push into Search w/ Demand Capture (after shopping)
• Lean into Audience/Creative based campaigns after demand capture is maxed out or have proof of concept

Here is your Plug-n-Play Vortex Model to Print @ Scale (CONT)

2/4: Nurture
• If not heavy in PMAX, you want at least 1 creative based nurturing campaign to help solidify the sales journey
• Add search nurturing by itself or observationally in growth campaigns

Here is your Plug-n-Play Vortex Model to Print @ Scale (CONT)

3/4: Capture & Protection
• 1 Brand Search and Shopping campaign (budgets and ad copy depending on overall competition and brand search volume)
> Try and push higher AOVs here

Here is your Plug-n-Play Vortex Model to Print @ Scale (CONT)

4/4: Profit Expansion
• 1 campaign type hitting MVP customers or warm customer types

7 Figure Model #1: Moments of Success Model

No purchase journey can be or will be 100% perfect from the launch

but

Your ultimate goal is to get that delta between launch to perfection as close as possible so you

1. minimize the learning period
2. minimize wasted ad spend

so how do we optimize our customer journey to get better CACs and higher AOVs?

Optimizing your marketing channel(s) doesn’t always mean you have to be in the platform to fix inefficiencies or problems

So...

When did you last look at all your moments across your customer journey?

Can you repeat them back to me in the main order?

Could you tell me the exact moment in your sales cycle that led to the most missed opportunities?

doesn't matter if you answered yes or no to the above...

there's always more work to be done to improve your customer journey

So how do you start to map your moments that matter to a customer?

Optimize For Moments

Phase 1: Touchpoints

Optimize Communication Touchpoints
- pre-purchase
- purchase
- post-purchase

How?
1. Remove Pain Points
> ex: slow loading time, product page is buried

2. Create Efficiency
> Ad to the main page
> Video breakdowns everywhere

Phase 2: Future Efficiency

Questions to Ask Yourself (1/2)

1. How would you describe your company to someone who’s never heard of it?

2. How would you describe your product (or service) to someone who’s heard of your company but is unclear about what you could do for them?

Phase 2: Future Efficiency

Questions to Ask Yourself (2/2)

3. Why would someone choose your product (or service) over a competitor’s? What’s so special about it?

4. How can you deepen your relationship with your customers or enable them to advocate on your behalf?

How to Hit $100,000/mo in Revenue with Performance Max Campaigns

PMAX Revenue Hack #1: Proper Targeting

1. Each campaign is broken down by the intended audience for services/products
> Bonus points that your profit margin of products/services align
> Why: Value-based bidding works better (usually)

PMAX Revenue Hack #2: Intent-Driven Ad Copy

1. Go beyond the same old copy-and-paste tactics of the past...add "capture" driven ad copy
> What is your target market(s) searching for? that's your ad copy

2. Relevancy is KING in Google (and any platform, really...)

PMAX Revenue Hack #3: Creative Creatives...

1. Test Product only v Lifestyle images

2. Keep a rotation of creatives
> treat it like a mini FB
> don't need SO many new, but keep it fluid

3. Max out the total # of assets for testing variables
> only if non-shopping performs

PMAX Revenue Hack #4: Videos for Attention

1. Test both low-budget & professional shot creatives

2. If you have UGC try it out

3. Keep videos to specifically what's in that asset group
> remember --> RELEVANCY

PMAX Revenue Hack #5: Targeting for PROFIT

Audience Signals that work the best hands down

1. Custom Intent (Hint: WINNERS)
2. 1st Party Data
3. Pre-Defined BOF In-Market
4. Pre-Defined Affinity
5. Demographics

I’ve helped capture $30,000,000-$40,000,000 over the last 12 months helping eComm brands scale with Google Ads

When you’ve sold as many products as I have, you quickly realize that the product is secondary to your data

If you’re an eComm brand ready to play 4D chess, read this:

Since I started managing Google Ads in 2020, I’ve helped capture probably $60m+ in sales for my clients

I’ve helped sell
> tech
> furniture
> b2b software
> supplements
> ball hair cream
> apparel
> and more

And I’ve seen the same marketing problems plaguing eComm stores…

When most people are breaking into eComm, they still have years of conditioning about what products sell and how…

They have a limited frame.

And when they aren’t seeing results, they still lean on outdated information to try and catch up

The main issue is that the internet is FU***NG HUGE

it's not enough to simply throw up an Alibaba product on a web page.

The average person sees over 5,000 advertisements per day, according to consumer data.

So what makes you think your product is going to stand out?

Online, where quantifiable results are determined by the millisecond, DATA is more important than anything.

If you cannot capture data, your revolutionary new product will inevitably hit a ceiling — if it finds an audience at all

There’s one company that has more data at its fingertips than anyone else…

Google.

Half of all the websites on the planet run Google Analytics

And over 5 billion people use the internet every day.

You do the math…

By capturing all the different types of data available through Google, we can maximize product reach from the top of the pyramid while everyone claws at the bottom for a second of online attention…

Then we can strategically retarget certain customers and demographics…

If your eComm store doesn’t have your Google Ads set up to handle things like:

-Scaling & Efficiency Focused Periods
-Proper Conversion Tracking
-Effectively Reaching All Customer Phases At Every Moment In Time

Your product is getting flushed down the toilet with everyone else

In the last 3 years, I’ve helped dozens of businesses scale with Google Ads.

Now I want to give you the keys.

I’ve built my Google Ads Ecosystem Vortex to help take you to the next level, without expensive retainers or percentage cuts

In less than 2 full workdays, you could be running the same strategies that have made my clients millions.

If you’re ready to tap into the largest market that has ever existed on earth, DM me to get started

You’ve Mastered FB Ads, But Are Brand New to Google Ads…

What Should You Do?

/Facebook Ads to Google Ads Thread/

I'm going to break down this process in the following manner

Philosophy > Why > How > What > Where & When

Let's start

So...

You’ve Mastered FB Ads, But Brand New to Google Ads…

What Should You Do?

You must CAPTURE demand before CREATING Demand

Here's how to do this 👇🏼

Why CAPTURE demand before CREATION? (part 1 of 3)

1. Hedge Your Risk Against Unproven Campaigns
2. Optimize For Your Actual Customer Sales Cycle
3. Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities

so how do you hedge your risk on a new channel?

3 Ways to Hedge Your Risk on an Unproven Marketing Channel

#1: Install Bullet Proof Tracking
#2: Low-Pressure Targeting
#3: Proven Offers

but how do you actually do the 3 steps?

How to Hedge Your Risk on an Unproven Channel ( #1)

#1: Install Bullet Proof Tracking
-> Add Google Tag
-> Set Purchase Conversion to Primary
-> Use Dynamic Purchase Values

How to Hedge Your Risk on an Unproven Channel ( #2)

#2: Low-Pressure Targeting
-> Lowest Pressure = Center of The Vortex
-> The goal is to prove the concept of a new marketing channel before scaling
-> Low-Pressure Targeting
° Existing Customers (Warm)
° Data Prospects

How to Hedge Your Risk on an Unproven Channel ( #3)

#3: Proven Offers
-> Hedge risk by using proven ads/offers from Facebook Ads
-> Update creatives and messaging "as needed" to fit the Google channel you go with
-> Combine Low Pressure Targeting x Proven Offers for fast profits

Why CAPTURE demand before CREATION? (part 2 of 3)

We Must Optimize For Your Actual Customer Sales Cycle

#1: Map The Customer Journey
#2: MicroMoments
#3: The Moment of Truth

So how do you map the customer journey?

Mapping The Customer Journey (Overview)

There are 3 ways to effectively map your user journey from prospect to a loyal FAN:

1. Communication Touchpoints
2. Removing Pain Points
3. Creating Happy Moments

Let's dig into how actually to optimize this for your ads & Targeting

Mapping The Customer Journey

#1: Communication Touchpoints
-> Pre-Purchase
-> Purchase
-> Post-Purchase

break down how a cold prospect would come into each phase and what your process is to turn them into a loyal FAN

optimize accordingly

Mapping The Customer Journey #2

#2: Removing Pain Points
-> ex: product ad v product page presents the product differently, causing FRICTION...how can marketing and copywriting blend together to create a proper front and back end to your system?

Mapping The Customer Journey #3

#3: Create Happy Moments
-> ex: you notice over time product pages w/ video breakdowns of the product use case or handling FAQs perform better...so you create more videos for products that don't have them

How to Optimize For Your Actual Customer Sales Cycle (part 2 of 3)

#2 Optimize For MicroMoments

1. Be There
> All Google Networks
> Dominate Market Share
> At All Moments (Know, Go, Do, Buy)

How to Optimize for MicroMoments ( #2)

2. Be Useful
> If you aren't useful in the moment of truth, not only will prospects move on, but they probably won't ever come back either
> Low-Pressure Targeting = Buy Moments
> Low-Pressure Targeting = Overcome Common Questions/Objections

How to Optimize for MicroMoments ( #3)

3. Be Quick
> Faster than fast (seriously) - quick tip, use PageSpeed Insights for free
> Eliminate Friction - ex: drop-down menus, 1-click steps
> Anticipate their needs - which you'll do because you mapped their journey ;)

Why CAPTURE demand before CREATION? (part 3 of 3)

We Want to Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities (3 Steps)

1. High Yield Time Periods
2. High Yield Traffic Segments
3. Frequency & Distribution

let's break each one down so you can do this yourself

How to Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities ( #1)

1. High Yield Time Periods
-> Understand Google Ads Conversion Lag for reporting and bidding
-> Evaluate what sales cycle gets 90% of your Conversions post-interaction (adjust to yours)
-> Time analysis

= your nurturing window

How to Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities ( #2)

2. High Yield Segments
-> Narrow > Wide Targeting
-> Match Offer to Your Segment (Relevancy Over ALL)
-> Look for whales

= your audience segment(s) to create

How to Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities ( #3)

3. Frequency & Distribution
-> Dynamic Nurturing (be there for them, they're unique, not generalized)
-> Vortex Nurturing Strategy (cover it all, not a funnel)
-> Crank volume during High Yield Time Periods

= nurturing strategy

So You’ve Mastered FB Ads, But Are Brand New to Google Ads…

What Should You Do?

CAPTURE Demand before CREATING Demand

How?

1. Hedge Your Risk Against Unproven Campaigns
2. Optimize For Your Actual Customer Sales Cycle
3. Maximize Lost Revenue Opportunities

90% of internet search traffic runs through Google

But most eComm stores are ignorant about the real power of the internet's FRONT PAGE

If only they knew 🤔

In the last 3 years, I’ve helped generate over $60,000,000 for clients using my DATA-FOCUSED Google Ads framework

In March, I managed/consulted $968,000 dollars and helped generate $3,810,000 million in revenue for my clients

I’m not a genius

I’m just a Navy veteran who has always liked data and numbers.

Now I help eComm brands utilize Google’s millions of data points to profit @ scale

Google is as wide as it is deep

So having a data-focused, targeted approach is CRUCIAL if you want to maximize ad spend

There are 89 BILLION monthly active visits on Google.

In 2nd place…

Facebook, with 2.9 billion monthly active visits

This level of scale is truly inconceivable.

And it’s what overwhelms a LOT of eComm stores’ digital marketing teams

With these numbers and this many data points, most turn to Facebook and Amazon
to run paid ads

You can’t blame the ignorant for making uninformed decisions.

But it doesn't matter how much you make from those acquisition channels, you’ll still only be making a small fraction of what you could make on Google.

And since starting managing Google Ads in 2020, I’ve created the highest ROI process for DOMINATING Google Ads

My Google Ads Ecosystem Vortex has TWO primary goals.

-Generate profit through the targeting of new customers
-Increase profit per existing customer

This is a common foundation, but what we build around this is nothing like a typical ads funnel.

Let me explain:

A typical ads funnel looks like this:

Awareness → consideration → conversion → brand loyalty

This is like pouring big rocks through a filter and hoping SOME fit.

It can work, but it’s not going to help drive long-term results

Our Ecosystem Vortex starts WITH your customers and works OUT

Profit Expansion → Self → Nurturing → Growth

With comprehensive data tracking, we can track everything your customers do online.

It doesn't matter WHERE your target audience is online; they’ll see your products

If you’re using Amazon, Facebook, TikTok, or any other platform to run paid ads, you might as well pitch your product on a street corner

These platforms DON’T have the overwhelming tracking tools that Google does

And it’s also why I’m giving you the playbook…

Using my Google Ads Ecosystem Vortex, I’m teaching eComm brands and marketing agencies how to leverage the most powerful marketing tool ever in less than TWO full workdays

DM me if you want to learn more about (or) improve your current Google Ads results for your brand
