Rules You Didn’t Know You Were Breaking On Facebook

Engagement Bait
You cannot ask your followers to “like, comment, share, tag” in your post. Instead, get creative and ask a question with emoji fingers point towards the comment section.

Promoting on your timeline.
Facebook wants to keep the the personal connection as a priority, so no business promotions are allowed on your timeline. When you make a contest, you cannot ask people to tag their friends as an entry.

Attaching Video Link In Your Post
Facebook doesnt want people to leave the platform. That is why it is best to post an original video in your caption.

Tip: to get around this, you can post a thumbnail of the video and put the video link in the comments. Use those finge emoji’s to guide your followers.

Static Image Polls
“Content posted for the sole purpose of increasing engagement by asking people to react to questions posed by the content.”
..you can see how much they want to avoid bait. So, get creative. Post meaningful and valuable content and you should not have a problem with engagement. Generally, people respond better to authentic content anyway. So, maybe these restrictions are a blessing in disguise.

5 Tools to Make Social Media Easier

⁣1. Canva ⁣
Canva is great for those of us who are not graphic designers, but need to make posters or educational posts. Take some time playing around on there and you will learn to love it! ⁣

2. Lightroom⁣
I use this on all my photos. You do have to pay, but for me it is totally worth it since I create my own content. Tip: if you are a student, see if your university has a free login for you! (mind does and I had no idea...too late lol)⁣
⁣
3. Unsplash ⁣
Unsplash is a great tool to use for stock photos for free! They even give you the creator's name so you can give them creds.⁣

4. Hootsuite ⁣
This is what I am currently using for invoices and contracts. ⁣

5. Later, Planoly, Facebook Creator Studio⁣
Later is the social media calendar I use (I use the free plan for my account and I love it). Planoly is another great one. I am using it now for my clients instagram posts as well. And for Facebook Creator studio, I use that for all my clients facebook posts as well. ⁣

IMPORTANT: FB and IG do not favor outside posting tools. For IG you can still use tools as long as they are in partnership with IG (Later, Tailwind, Planoly). But FB...only use Fb creator studio. You want the algorithm in your favor. ⁣

Social Media Habits to Leave with 2020...⁣
⁣
1. Posting When You Feel Like It⁣
⁣
With millions of users on Facebook and Instagram, once a month (let alone one a week) is no longer enough. Yes, that may mean more work, but the benefits for your business make it worth it. ⁣
⁣..You can also outsource people like me to take care of it for you 😉⁣
⁣
2. Paying For Ads ⁣
⁣
FB and Instagram ads are so amazing…BUT when done right. There is no real benefit to throwing your money into boosting a post without a strategy. Focus on generating valuable content rather than paying to boost posts here and there. ⁣
⁣
3. Ghosting Your Followers ⁣
⁣
Consistent posting is important. Show your audience that you are active and present. Respond to comments and dm’s. Share your process on IG stories! They follow you to see your content…don't leave them in the dark. ⁣

As of 2021 here is how the algorithm works on Instagram! ⁣
⁣
1. Interest ⁣
⁣
Your feed is not only based on who you follow, but who you interact with the most. Your feed is a combination of all the accounts you show most engagement. ⁣
⁣
So, you can imagine why it is so important to show up consistently for your followers. The algorithm loves engagement and will bump posts and accounts that have a lot of engagement. ⁣
⁣
2. Relationship ⁣
⁣
IG prioritizes accounts you care about (family, friends, etc.). But the algorithm can figure out accounts you like based on your engagement with them, therefor show you their content first....this is why building a relationship with your followers is so important. ⁣
⁣
3. Timelines ⁣
⁣
Use your insights to your advantage. Check when most of your followers are in instagram and post during that time to maximize engagement potential. ⁣
⁣
4. Frequency ⁣
⁣
Remember when IG used to be in chronological order? The reason it is not, is all based on how long you are in IG. If you are on all day, you will see the latests posts on your feed as you update it. I you are on for a few minutes a day, you are going to see just the highlights from the day. ⁣
⁣
These are the the main points about the algorithm. After reading, I hope you see why us social media managers stress having a strategy in place. It will help your business shine through the busy world of social media. ⁣

We can all agree 2020 has been a wild year. The year of the impossible. The year of the unexpected. ⁣

We can look at the negative impossibles and the negative unexpecteds, but what if we decide to look at why they brought into our lives?⁣

I have discovered so much about myself this year and I don’t think I would have without the world being at a pause. ⁣

I hope 2021 brings more joy to everyone than 2020 did. I hope 2021 is the year for us all! ⁣

✨Do you have any 2021 New Year resolutions?⁣

Strategy is so important.

A strategy includes:

- Who to post for?
Hopefully this is your crystal clear ideal customer that you know oh so well

- When to post?
Usually about 3x per week

- Where to post?
Know what platforms are best for your business. You usually cant go wrong with IG or FB

- What to post?
Think like your ideal customer. What are their problems? How can you solve their problems? Show them you are the solution.

Comment your best strategy tips!
