Stop talking about yourself!
Your audience doesn’t care about you until they feel you care about them. Having the right messaging and communication tools makes all the difference in connecting with your audience that builds brand loyalty.

A recent PURPL project re-imagined our clients existing facts sheets as “how-to guides.” Content was rewritten to address what matters to the potential customers, formatting the message into easily engageable content, ie: segmenting the information into more digestible sections, creating relevant headlines, sub-headers and callouts. The new system provides multifunctional use in a variety of new business conversations, creating a value-based conversation.

Give me Value, not Marketing.
In continuing to evolve the brand, this “value-centered” strategy ditches traditional sales speak and focuses on relevant, applicable, practical, and educational content.

Making dense content digestible
1. Forgo the fluff. Strip it down. Find the main point in each paragraph THEN elaborate IF it provides additional value for the consumer.

2. Sectionalize content. One page of information can feel overwhelming. Separating information into sizable sections allows for a much easier and faster read.

3. Quick-hit content.
Headlines, subheads, bullet pointed sections, and call outs are all focused on making the value of the content more clear and more accessible, encouraging further reader attention.

4. Utilizing more space.
Instead of using one side of an 8.5x11, foldable handouts allow both sides to be used, creating a more dynamic layout and greater surface area for content to live on.

In an increasingly digital world why would you need a paper business card? We know a few clients who just zap their contact card directly from their phones. Quick, easy, done.

So, why do we still believe in paper business cards?

Solutions are not linear. Sometimes it takes a bit of recalibrating to achieve a desired result for any given project. Take this for example.

We acquired some catalog files to print. They however, did not meet the minimum requirements for print. With the client’s approval, we redesigned them almost completely, checking that the images had the necessary resolution, tracing fonts, adding and removing pages until the whole set made sense, and paying attention to a thousand and one details so that nothing was missed. Finally, we were able to take the files to print and everything went very well.

This is part of our day-to-day at the Agency as well as our first official approach to the US Hispanic/Latino market. We are proud to have Hispanic people at Purpl, which makes us very happy to have collaborated with Paisa.

ORANGE OCTOPUS
Real Ingredients. Real good. Real fun.

Not too long ago, we developed a new brand for Orange Octopus— a super popular and growing ice cream shop where everything is made oh so good from all-natural, real ingredients. No flavor additives. (There’s real bourbon in the honey maple bourbon!)

The new brand was built on a clear value proposition, brand strategy, and the “real fun” brand mascot: Ollie, the melting ice cream scoop octopus. The entire brand system spanned everything from the website to in-store graphics, packaging, merchandise, social, and marketing. The end result, a complete brand experience that’s just as sweet and fun as the ice cream flavors.

Schools In!

As you may know, our principal, Brian Carlock, has instructed many Graphic Design courses at Ringling College of Art and Design, offering thoughtful, strategic, and skilled teachings from the creative industry— introducing real-world practices, and bold insights to his students.

For the 2023 Fall semester, he opened his first class with a unique challenge. After inspecting two fictitious bands with A LOT of personality, the students were to complete 8+ rough brand concept sketches and present their best three creative ideas by the next class.

Within this project, there are two major lessons:

ONE
In a real client/ creative environment, you don’t get to choose the topic or the brand. You MUST deliver on a BRIEF based on something (ie: business plan, event, etc.) that already exists. Working with restrictions and constraints is a part of the job.

TWO
Jumping ahead=falling behind. Work fast and furious first, THEN you may refine. Getting into every single idea in the beginning wastes critical time, and you’ve got a budget to stick to.
