Your band’s brand deserves human intelligence. Part 2 🎸

A lot of bands are playing with prompted logos right now. It is fine for inspiration, but most of those marks end up blending together, and the artwork usually cannot be copyrighted for merch, which gets risky once you start selling. That is why I still draw, vectorize, and test everything on real-world applications before I call it a logo.

This Soundwall Jackson concept started the slow way: client questionnaire, mind map around the name, a mood board that felt like Florida Southern rock and blues, then a Photoshop composite to lock in pose and lighting. From there, it was hours in Illustrator, building every element on its own layer so the badge, illustration, and wordmark could scale cleanly from phone screen to shirt, cap, and stage banner. 🎨🖥️

Your band's brand deserves human intelligence. 🎸

Everyone is prompting logos right now. And it shows. Scroll through your feed on any given weekend and the gig posts all look like they came from the same band. In your attempt to stand out, you blend in.

Here are five pieces I built for real artists on the Florida music scene. Every one started with knowing the music, the people, and the story behind the name.

🚫 AI can't own your image. Purely AI-generated art has no copyright protection under current U.S. law. Anyone can take it, copy it, print it. Try putting that on merch.

🎯 Prompting is not strategy. Knowing what your band stands for and how your logo needs to work from a stage banner down to a guitar strap is strategy. A prompt is a guess.

📐 Flat images break on everything that matters. Shirts, embroidery, vinyl, banners. Scale an AI image up, and it falls apart. Real logos are built in vector from the start.

👀 Every band is starting to look the same. The AI aesthetic is already tired, and we are barely into it.

Been sitting on this one for a while. 🎸

This is my concept for Soundwall Jackson, Al Donadi's roots rock project out of the Siesta Key music scene. Not the official logo. That decision is his. I have been keeping him updated on the progress and the finished piece.

Custom lettering, hand-drawn illustration, built to work on vinyl, shirts, hats, and stage banners. A full badge system from one concept. 🎶

Siesta Key Music Scene

🎸 Al already had an AI image made for him. Looked cool. More like a poster than a logo. Out of the box, no one owns it.

That's not what I do.

I've been following Al Donadi for seven years. I know his writing, his style, his stage presence. I knew when Bobby Schneck, Aerosmith's guitar tech, came on board on bass. I knew when Steve Apostoli locked in on drums. 🥁

So I just started. Never told him.

I ran a brand questionnaire as if I were him, because seven years of following a musician gives you something a brief can't.

The name alone was the puzzle. A Civil War general meets a wall of speakers and the fury of rock music. Chiseled, immovable character colliding with raw energy. That was the paradox to solve.

Retro badge style. Hand-crafted illustration. A wordmark that works alone when the full mark is too much. Something that holds up on a stage banner, a patch, a phone screen. Something people talk about.

He hasn't said yes yet. 🤙

It's done. And I didn't cut corners.

This logo is built for where Soundwall Jackson is headed. Not where they've been.
