Sometimes a brand doesn't need to start over.

It just needs room to grow.

This concept explores what a brand refresh for Higbie Herbals could look like: keeping the recognizable botanical feel while simplifying the logo, refining the typography, and creating a more flexible visual system for packaging, print, and digital.

The goal wasn't to reinvent the brand.

It was to preserve what people already knew while giving it room to feel more modern, cohesive, and versatile.

That's the difference between decorating a brand and designing one with intention.

Curious what your brand could become with a thoughtful refresh?

I'd love to help.

I often work with earthy, refined, and wellness-focused brands.

So it's fun when a project calls for something a little different.

Petite Threads was a children's boutique branding project from my archives, originally created more than a decade ago.

Even years later, I still love the personality in it.

The soft color palette, hand-drawn details, and boutique-inspired styling were all chosen to create a brand that felt playful, approachable, and memorable without becoming overly trendy.

One of the things I love most about branding is that every project starts with the same question:

How should this brand feel?

The answer is different every time.

And that's what makes the work interesting.

(Also, any project that includes tiny clothes automatically gets bonus points.)

Legacy Wear was created for my parents' handmade jewelry business, where vintage silverware is transformed into wearable heirlooms.

What makes the business special isn't just the craftsmanship. It's the story behind it.

Old pieces that might otherwise sit forgotten in a drawer become something that can be worn, gifted, and passed down for another generation.

When creating the brand, I wanted the visual identity to reflect that same feeling.

Timeless. Handcrafted. Meaningful.

The goal wasn't to create something trendy. It was to create something that felt like it belonged to the stories already attached to each piece.

One of the things I love most about branding is finding those deeper layers and helping bring them to the surface.

Because the strongest brands aren't built around products. They're built around meaning.

One of the fastest ways to make a brand feel more polished?

Better typography.

The fonts you choose communicate personality before anyone reads a single word.
A font can feel:

• Refined
• Playful
• Modern
• Traditional
• Approachable
• Premium

Which is why font selection isn't the last step. It's part of the strategy.

"I just picked one I liked" isn't usually a brand strategy.

Good branding begins long before the logo. It starts with questions.

What makes a brand feel trustworthy? What makes it memorable?
What makes someone stop scrolling and pay attention?

Those questions became the starting point for Salt & Sage Botanicals, a concept project exploring a brand rooted in simplicity, nature, and intentional living.

From there came sketching, refinement, typography studies, color palettes, and plenty of exploration.

Some ideas worked. Some looked considerably better in my head.
That's part of the process.

Even concept projects require the same thinking and problem-solving as client work. They give designers room to explore, test ideas, and build brands from the ground up.

Because thoughtful brands don't happen by accident. They grow from a strong foundation.

A concept project exploring what it looks like when a café brand feels truly rooted.

Kindroot Café was inspired by the idea that what we consume should feel intentional—from the ingredients in a cup of coffee to the experience of picking it up off the shelf.

The visual identity leans earthy, warm, and handcrafted, with packaging designed to feel approachable rather than perfect.

Because coffee is already doing enough heavy lifting.

The branding doesn't need to make it complicated.
