I have not said much publicly about Mark Douglas since he passed away. I have a real hard time with that.

The truth is, losing Mark hurt more than I knew how to explain. I went to his funeral, stood before the people who loved him, and spoke about the man he was. Afterward, I came home, sat on my back deck with my dogs, and talked to Mark one last time.

That was one of the saddest days of my entire life.

I told him I had to let him go.

Not because I would ever forget him, but because the pain had become so heavy that I could not work. I could not move forward. I had to believe that Mark understood.

Mark Douglas was there on the ground floor of Nikkos Creative. He was also on the ground floor of the Talki Foundation. His voice, his talent, his loyalty, and his belief in what we were building helped shape this agency into what it is today. His fingerprints will always be on our work, and his impact will always be part of our story.

This Sunday, Brunswick will gather for Second Sunday an event Mark helped build from the ground up. It is a day filled with local music, community, and support for nonprofit organizations throughout Glynn County.

Second Sunday represents so much of who Mark was. Talented, generous, connected to his community, and always willing to use his gifts to help someone else.

I have had to let go of the pain, but I will never let go of the gratitude.

Please come out this Sunday, support the musicians, support the local nonprofits, and support something that meant so much to Mark.

Second Sunday is more than an event.

It is part of Mark Douglas’ legacy.
And I hope Brunswick shows up for him. ~Charlie
