W Projects attended the High Design Holiday Party this year at Victory North, joining industry partners for what marked the largest event to date. Erin Clay, Marketing Director at W Projects, has served on the AIA planning committee for the past 10+ years and continues to support the growth and impact of this annual event. From the live band to the record-breaking turnout, the evening reflected how far the celebration has come.

We’re thrilled to formally welcome Taylor Joslin, the newest member of the W Projects team! Even though she’s been an amazing intern with us for the year, we’re so excited to celebrate her now as she steps into this next chapter here at W Projects as Associate Designer.

Taylor is an abstract artist and graphic designer, who is graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design in just a couple of weeks! Originally from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, she’s been sharpening her craft and bringing her creative vision to life.

With roots in traditional art, Taylor discovered graphic design in high school and digital media has been captivating her ever since. While she’ll always love a paintbrush and canvas, she’s found her specialty (and passion!) in the world of design. As the creative landscape continues to evolve, Taylor knew diving deeper into digital art would be both practical and energizing and we couldn’t agree more.

A LOOK BACK: Pavement-to-Parks, 2018

As the entire Savannah community looks to the future of the Savannah Civic Center and what it can be redefined as, we can't help but go down memory lane as well. In 2018, we and the privilege of helping transform the north section of the parking lot into a vibrant pop-up park for the Congress for the New Urbanism 26. This project proved that creative placemaking can turn any space, big or small, into a place for connection and community.

Working with our friends at The Makers Guild, The Revival Society, Matt Toole, Phil Caridi, and Eliska Skarolkova, the team created an innovative temporary public space featuring over 200 interlocking benches, a 3-dimensional mural, and a “bottled biodome” portal built from 3,000 repurposed water bottles, a large iron sculptural piece of art scattered throughout the space, and an overall great experience for the public and CNU attendees.

For one weekend, a Civic Center parking lot became a lush little oasis, a gathering place for 300+ attendees and a celebration of tactical urbanism and community creativity.

At W Projects, we believe in making places with purpose and reimagining how underused spaces can spark connection, art, and joy. Thank you to The Makers Guild for highlighting this incredible memory and experience that we were honored to take part in.

Last week, we joined Designing Local, City of Savannah Government, and Ethos Preservation to begin our journey toward a new Public Art Master Plan for Savannah! We enjoyed showing off some of the beautiful existing public art pieces and visiting areas across the city where possibilities abound. We are so glad to be a part of this incredible team and can’t wait to share more!

It’s that time of year again! This year’s High Design Holiday Party, “Holidays in the Low Country” at Victory North Savannah has officially been announced. Our Marketing Director, Erin Clay, has sat on the committee for over 7 years and she is hard at work helping plan and promote the event again this year.

Great article in Savannah Morning News from last week’s Wetlands Preserve Park open house. We were thrilled to present, along with our project partners, the potential features of the park by creating an immersive and educational experience for attendees that focused on potential design and the use of all local ecological plants, sites, and sounds. The Wetlands Park Preserve is set to be developed just north of Enmarket Arena.
