Savannah State is coming home to The Marsh. 🐅🏈

The Tigers return to action this Saturday, Sept. 12 for their 2026 home opener AND SIAC opener, welcoming defending conference champion Albany State to Theodore A. “Ted” Wright Stadium.

It’ll also mark Savannah State’s first home game of the Thomas Howard era, with 912 Day, Alumni Appreciation and Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day all part of the weekend.

And the HBCU energy doesn’t stop Saturday.

On Sunday, Sept. 13, the same stadium hosts the 2026 BIG HBCU Battle of the Bands: “Battle for the South”, featuring nine HBCU marching bands, including Savannah State, South Carolina State, Albany State, Benedict, Fort Valley State, Bethune-Cookman and more. Fan Fest begins at 12 PM, gates open at 2 PM, the Parade of Bands starts at 3 PM, and showtime is 4 PM.

🤖 A $20 BILLION AI project could be headed to the Savannah area.

OpenAI is planning Project Camellia, a massive AI data-center campus in Effingham County that could become one of the largest private investments in coastal Georgia history.

The proposed project would include 3.2 gigawatts of computing infrastructure, hundreds of permanent jobs, thousands of construction jobs and phased development expected to stretch from 2028 through 2032.

And while Savannah has temporarily paused large-scale data-center development inside city limits, Project Camellia sits in Effingham County, meaning that moratorium does not directly stop this proposal.

The project still has reviews, permits and approvals ahead, so this one is far from a done deal — but the scale alone makes it one of the biggest development stories to watch in the region.

🏨 The Bohemian Savannah Riverfront has a new name — and a new chapter.

The longtime riverfront hotel is now Hotel Orielle, bringing a refreshed identity, updated interiors and a renewed dining experience to one of downtown Savannah’s most recognizable stays.

📍 102 W. Bay St., Savannah
🍽️ Coastal 15 Fish House
🌇 Rocks on the Roof remains part of the experience

If you knew it as The Bohemian, this is the same iconic riverfront location — just entering its next era.

What do you think of the new name? 👀
