In 2019, the brand strategists at Tronvig invited us to be the creative counterpart to their comprehensive re-branding efforts for global health organization Helen Keller International ... Our mission was to create a brand identity with 3 primary goals in mind:
1️⃣ Pay tribute to their founder, Helen Keller. Her fierce optimism and belief in opportunity in spite of any obstacles has guided their mission for more than 100 years.
2️⃣ Update an old and outdated logo that focused only on vision care. Their work has evolved from providing assistance to soldiers blinded during WWI, to today’s programs that not only prioritize vision loss and blindness, but also address global health problems such as malnutrition and neglected diseases.
3️⃣ Resonate with anyone aligned with the organization in a way that speaks to them as an essential partner in Helen Keller’s programming success.
The result: A logo inspired by hope, optimism and the potential of each new day. And a visual positioning centered around the idea that — while the organization is a catalyst for change — they are only part of the solution. Collaboration with those who give, volunteer, and advocate is vital to their mission. The color palette is derived from sunrise and sunset. Clean, sans serif typography throughout the system considers optimum legibility for the vision-impaired.
So excited to finally be sharing this work. Enormous thanks to Tronvig and Helen Keller Intl. It’s been inspirational on so many levels to create work with such wonderful people from both teams, for an organization that works every day to encourage, educate and provide assistance to vulnerable families around the world.
