AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Hello, everyone! We know it’s been some time since our last post, and we wanted to let you know why we’ve gone dark on social media.
Matt and I have been at this for almost two years, and it has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of our lives. We have taken a mutual passion for video games and turned it into a full-fledged business - how cool is that?

The journey of entrepreneurship is fun, exciting, and rewarding, but it’s also a huge responsibility. Matt and I have always had a vision of what we wanted Electric City Esports to be, but we opted to chase other business opportunities hoping it would carry us to our dream. We lost sight of what we wanted to do and hit burnout late in the summer this year. We realized what we were chasing after business-wise weren’t things we are passionate about, and it just was not working. We think it’s powerful when somebody can look at their creation and realize its faults and realize changes need to be made.

So, we have realized our current business is not working and we have decided to do something about it. Matt and I are going back to the drawing board to rebuild Electric City Esports the way we wanted to build it in the first place. A complete overhaul is coming, and we are excited for this next chapter of the company. We’ve been getting lots of help with our new ideas, and we cannot wait to put them together into a new business model.

With that said, we’re taking a break from our online presence to focus all our efforts on rebuilding Electric City Esports. This is not a goodbye, but we will be back. We are thankful for the support you have shown us these past almost two years and hope you will stick around for the next chapter of Electric City Esports. For future updates, stay tuned on social media. We’ll drop updates as we make progress.

We cannot wait to show you what we have planned!

EVENT CANCELED!
Due to unforeseen circumstances and for the safety of everyone involved in this event and attendees, we have needed to make the difficult decision to cancel Gamers Play for Blood.

This past year has proven challenging to organize events, and with an uncertain rest of the year, we believe canceling our event is the best thing we can do.
Esports and charity are a perfect pair, and we hope one day we can put on the biggest esports and charity-related event Scranton and NEPA have ever seen!

Thank you to everyone who helped shape this event, and we can't wait to go back to the drawing board to successfully grow esports events right here in Northeastern PA.

A new chapter of Electric City Esports has begun, and we want to hear from you!

While we are still in the early stages of planning our esports center, we thought we would take the opportunity to give you all some background on what we hope our space will look like in the future.

We love video games, but we also love many other things surrounding video games, and we know you do too.
The Electric City Esports center will not only be your stop for playing on top-of-the-line gaming computers, consoles and other gaming devices but a means of gathering with your friends and social circles for your specific interests. We envision a center that caters to pop culture, tabletop games, anime, cosplay, science fiction and so much more. No longer would you need to gather your friends at home for a D&D night, drive hours to a convention center or watch esports from your phone - all of your interests would be under one roof in your local area.

So, we want to know from you, does this center sound like a place where you would feel welcomed, included and would want to come back to? Tell us in the comments below, and let us know what you would want to see in the Electric City Esports center!

In one short year, Chris & Matt:
🎮Took a lifelong passion and turned it into a business idea which became an actual business

🎮Were stopped three months into their business journey by a worldwide pandemic (who could’ve seen that coming?)

🎮Learned to work remotely and still build a company

🎮Studied esports endlessly to be ready for business - we’re still learning every day!

🎮Launched a company from a makeshift office remotely in July 2020

🎮Grew a social following (we’re always working on reaching new people)

🎮Had their first-ever interview from DiscoverNEPA

🎮Landed their first podcast appearance on Garlic Jar Media

🎮Networked each day - we're still doing that

🎮Added multiple team members

🎮Gained & lost their first paying client

🎮Restructured EVERY part of their company for a new year of business (welcome to 2021!)

🎮Gained industry & local business connections

🎮Ran their first esports tournament

🎮Pitched to many clients (and had many doors shut on them in the process)

🎮Gained strategic business partnerships

🎮Made their YouTube debut

🎮Started work on their biggest project yet (stay tuned for more info on this secret project)

🎮Celebrated one year in business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony

🎮Decided to start pursuing their dream of having an esports center

What’s the point of this post? A few things come to mind:
🎮Every big business starts small
🎮Expect to fail (a lot)
🎮Believe in your dreams
🎮Never give up on your dreams
🎮Grow a little bit each day

Time flies and life is short. We are incredibly thankful for the journey we have been on since the fall of 2019. This message shows where Electric City Esports came from, where it has been and where it is heading. We are still learning where we fit into this world of video games and esports, but we believe we have shown what can happen when you pursue your dreams when you chase after something you love. To everyone who has been following us on this journey since last year, we want to thank you for your support. To all our new followers, welcome to a whole new era of Electric City Esports. To those who love video games and esports, chase after what you love because you can succeed - never let anyone kill your dream.
We’ve got a lot of big things planned for the rest of 2021. We can’t wait to share updates and can’t wait to bring you all along for the ride!

Yesterday, Electric City Esports celebrated one year in business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

When we started on this journey last year, we could not have imagined where it would take us - the incredible people we'd meet, the following we'd build and the opportunity to pursue something we've loved since childhood, video games.

We would like to acknowledge and thank The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce for helping us put together yesterday's ceremony, Mayor of Scranton, Paige Cognetti, Commissioner Chris Chermak, others from the city of Scranton, Scranton Chamber President Bob Durkin and members from Penn State Scranton for being present - you all helped make this event even more memorable for us!

We are putting a year's chapter behind us and looking to the next chapter. We are excited to announce Electric City Esports is working toward having a physical place of business in the Scranton area, to be THE esports center in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We believe in NEPA and we believe in esports as a connector for younger generations. We hope you will follow us on this new journey!
